Atheros vs Intel (P7000 decision)

Thread Starter
Seems the P7000 comes in two forms, 7000 and 7000D

Intel vs Atheros on the wireless lan.

Can anyone tell me from experience what the difference is between them or should I just go with Intel? Why even offer the D Atheros model?

At home I use a Netgear 614 wireless B/G router set on B mode (issues when set on G), and I don't send files between the two computers so B is fine for my websurfing and emails. Just wondering will I get more range out of the Atheros vs Intel or ??

I my experience Atheros gives you more reliable connection compare to Intel. I'm using Atheros myself in my Fujitsu and so far I'm happy to work everywhere I can find Wifi without any hassle or dropouts at all.

I've used both and I think that the Atheros may have a little better range. Now that I've got the Intel working good it is performing as good as the Atheros at close range. The intel needs a little more tweaking.

my P7010 had intel before, but I upgraded to Atheros and sold the Intel already, that's the only upgrade I have done to the P, and I think it was necessary.
