Display properties won't detect 7900 GTX

I recently ordered a 9750 from powernotebooks with these specs:
Sager NP9750 FORCE
17" WUXGA "Super Clear Glossy" TFT Active Matrix screen
nVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GTX with 256MB Embedded GDDR3 memory
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ w/ 1024KB L2 cache per core (2MB Total)
Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound
2,048MB (2 SODIMMS) PC3200 DDR400 Memory
80GB SATA/150 Hard Drive at 7,200 RPM
RAID Disabled
Combo 8x8x6x4x Dual Layer DVD +/-R/RW 5x DVD-RAM 24x CD-R/RW Drive w/Softwares
External USB Floppy Drive
Built-in 802.11g Wireless LAN Card
Smart Li-ion Battery (12 Cell)
Full Range Auto Switching AC Adapter
Standard Carrying Case
No Operating System

It just arrived yesterday and I finished installing Windows XP Pro today.

Upon starting up, I pressed F2 to check the BIOS settings and everything looked fine. Note: these settings state "VGA Card: GeForce 7900 GTX" so I know the hardware is at least in the notebook.

After getting to the desktop for the first time, I decide to install all the necessary drivers, etc. I go to the control panel, check display settings, and to my surprise, see this:

Hmm... strange... it doesn't seem to detect the 7900 GTX. At first I thought it was just because the driver wasn't installed so I went on over to nvidia.com. The 7900 GTX driver isn't in the main driver listing (I'm guessing because it's relatively new still) but after a quick search I found it as a beta driver (along with the 7950 and others). I downloaded it and began the installation, but ran across the error message that it didn't detect the appropriate hardware or something like that. Weird... I went ahead and tried downloading their generic, non-beta, driver and had the same error there too.

So basically I have a notebook with a powerful video card inside... that I can't use. Please help!

D'oh!

Silly me, all it took was a trip to sagernotebook.com and a visit to their driver download section! Haha, had me worried there for a moment too. 7900 GTX is good to go... and wow... it's amazing.

Cessy,

I've had to reformat my 9750 because I didn't ensure that I installed everything in the order that it stated to on the disk that came with the 9750. Even with the latest drivers downloaded from Sager, ensure you download and reboot in the order prescribed. I had originally not done this and was constantly getting Blue-Screen-of-Deaths. Good luck.

Hmm, if you mean the device drivers and utilities CD then yeah I tried following that list exactly as it said. So far no problems but thank you for the heads up, I'll know what to do if I run into any blue screens.
