3dmark05 shows CR$# cpu bench scores, help??

With stock drivers i got a score of 4737.
Return to Proxycon test :17fps
firefly forest: 15fps
Canyon Flight: 27.5fps
CPU test 1: 0.8
CPU test 2: 0.8
So what should I do?

Geforce 7900gtx 256meg

Those look perfectly normal to me. What are you looking for?

I'm looking for anything that is at fault for lowing my 3dmark05 score. Isn't cpu quite low? Seeing that the avg for 7900 are hitting 8-10k on 3dmark05 I'm only getting 4800score at best.

What are the core/memory clock speeds on your 7900?

I reformatted again (non quick), installed with windows xp sp2 (no errors during installation, installed chipset, installed sager drivers, these are my results

7900 GTX 256meg
Clock Default:
500core/600Mem performance 3d
200core/300Mem low power 3d
100core/110Mem standard 2d

3dmark05 4238
Game Test
GT1 - Return to Proxycon 15.2 fps
GT2 - Firely Forest 12.9 fps
GT3 - Canyon Flight 24.8 fps

CPU Test: 1061
CPU test 1: 0.7 fps
CPU test 2: 0.8 fps

Did you install Nvidia drivers?? U should be cracking 7000 in 3dmark05, if not more with a 7900GTX.

Yeah the stock nivdia drivers that came with the sager, I removed the heatsink just now and checked the paste it was lacking a bit so I added a thin layer. Started it up, benched and My score is now 5325. I'm guessing heat issues?

That's still a lot short, are u sure u didnt set u r computer in any power savings mode and u r power chord is plugged in?

yup, even tried benching without the battery, ac plugged in. Set gpu, and computer's power mode to full. The only thing that made a big difference so far was applying a thin layer of thermal paste on the gpu which increased my score by 1,000.

Scores now are:
3dmark05 5283
Game Test
GT1 - Return to Proxycon 18 fps
GT2 - Firely Forest 17.9 fps
GT3 - Canyon Flight 29.4 fps

CPU Test: 1281
CPU test 1: 0.9 fps
CPU test 2: 0.8 fps

Try putting another thin layer of thermal compound on your CPU when u get a chance. Also, is the heatsink snug in place on the GPU? Sometimes that can be an issue. There's something wrong with u r card not cracking 7000.. you're getting a definately lower score. What are your gpu terms while idle/load?

how would i check gpu temps?
you're gunna hafta download coolbits to unlock the registry key and then u simply go to right click on desktop, properties, settings, advanced, nvidia, etc... Where u see u r drivers, u should see a temperature slider on a side.

ohh cool bits, ok got it cept I can't find a temp slider
post #14 of 17
take a pic of u r nvidia place with all the toolbars and stuff around.
if that doesnt work, get everest, and it will show u r your ambient GPU and core GPU temperatures in the sensor tab.

hm one everest benchmark I noticed that my CPU write speed is 150mb/sec and reading 142 mb/s same as a athlon xp 1500?? That can't be right or is it? I still can't find temp reporting, at best I have cpu temp which comes in at 50c idle.
go to sensor, and it should be there, where is says graphic array or display, it should show u the temperatures, if it doesnt, u may hafta bios flash your video card to get the temperature sensor enabled.

I added more thermal paste to the gpu and cpu, tried 84.69 drivers like dell does. My score actually dropped to 4600. Now I'm using sager stock 90's drivers again and these are my scores with more thermal paste:

3dmark05 score 5392
GT1 - Return to Proxycon 18.1fps
GT2 - Firely Forest 17.7 fps
GT3 - Canyon Flight 29.6 fps

CPU score 1125
CPU test 1 0.7 fps
CPU test 2 0.8 fps

Are my cpu scores suppose to be that cra$py?
