5720 dead??? It's only been a few months!

I read another post in this forum, but i'm not sure if mine is related to his.

Here's the issue:

I press the power button. The hard disk and power indicator both turn on briefly. Then the hard disk indicator turns off. The screen is sitll black, I don't hear anything running. The rear fan doesn't turn on. I tried turning it off and on a few times and same results. Keep in mind, the clock doesn't even show up!!!

So i tried using my brick as the only power source instead of the battery. Same deal. I've only had this laptop for about 5 months and have barely used it, and it's already dead ... I dont know if I can trust Sager products anymore. All I have on it are WoW and some pictures. But this irks me because I want to use it now but I cant and probably need to wait till Monday to get this resolved.

Do you guys know what could be hte problem and how to fix? I've sent emails to Sager just right now, but they arent open on weekends so I have to wait till Monday to fix this problem at hte very least.

If you guys have experienced this or seen somoene else who has, please let me know. Thanks.

Hi, :-)

I had the same thing with my 5720 quite some times. It was a contact problem of the CPU. The solution was to take the CPU off the socket and back again. Actually my CPU is doing the same thing when I put the big screw on the CPU socket all the way to locked position. If I only turn it to the right until it reaches the Locked sign it runs perfectly. Strange but thats the way it is. Cheap CPU socket :-(

All the best
