D/Dock annoying problem!

I'm hoping someone can help me with this. I have the Dell D/Dock advanced port replicator and when I undock, I hit the undock button, wait for the eject button to light up, then eject. The problem is, half the time the screen blacks out and does not come back. To be more specific, the system and screen kinda refreshes right after undocking. And like I mentioned, half the time no problem, then the other half the screen stays off. Computer is on, but screen does not come back, even after hitting buttons. So then I usually have to reboot. These are supposed to be able to undock while on no problems so I wonder if I need to adjust a setting or something. If anyone can help, please do.
Thank you,
Snes

Are you hot undocking or warm undocking? My D820 has no problem coming back from a hot undock. My i8200 did warm undocks and it was sometimes a bit fickle when coming back from standby.

Not quite sure what you mean by "warm" and "hot" undocking but I follow the appropriate steps. I first hit the "undock" button and wait for the "eject" button to light up. I don't really pay attention to the temp of the computer when doing so. It almost seems as if the connectors are partially making contact back and forth for the millisecond I undock and it is confusing the system. I don't know, just hoping for a setting fix or something.

Hot undocking means you press the undock button and the machine stays on and just goes through the disconnect hardware wizard for you. Warm Undocking means the system goes into standby when undocking.

Now is your Laptop's panel the one that's not coming back on or the display attached to the dock? If it's the former you may have a defective DDock, I've been hearing they can be hit-or-miss sometimes.

Oh, hot then. Is one way more appropriate? I figure the purpose of the D/Dock is convenience so I should be able to switch while on.
The laptop panel is the one not coming back on half the time. I hope the d/dock is not defective!

Evil, I think i found the problem but I dont know why its a problem. When you mentioned "display attached to the dock" I disconnected my second peripheral displace (acer) and docked and undocked 10 times and sure as sh!t no problems. I notice when I hit the undock button the screen blanks initially, then blanks after the eject and comes back. Before, i would hit the undock and the screen would not flash, then eject, then it would flash, then flash again and sometimes not come back. Well problem targeted I just have to find out what to do now. Possible driver update i guess?
