Great looking game. Just wondering when it will be available?

That game looks incredibly badass. I plan on upgrading my desktop when Vista ships (not sure if i'll stay with 32bit or go to 64bit), when AMD releases their K8L chips and when the DX10 cards are out. Based on history, a single next gen card should run this game with ease (there's also rumors that nVidia's G80 will be a dual core GPU too). I figure those upgrades, creative x-fi sound card (yeah i know, but might as well get one lol) and a Dell 3007FPW will make me quite happy.

Game looks awesome.

But one gripe, why won't anyone make the "gore" more realistic?

You know, blood, heads flying off, limbs, bodies blown apart.

This is war right?

I mean if you get hit with a 50 caliber bullet, there won't be much left of ya.

Can you imagine Soldier Of Fortune with this engine?

I see more gore on the news than on any modern game today.

Just a thought.

We saw it running in Direct X 9 mode, and Crytek suggested that DX10 would not bring much more to the table other than increased performance for cards that support it. Obviously, there is a lot of physics going on in the game - calculating all that foliage isn't easy - and we asked Crytek how they were handling it all. They confirmed that there are no plans to integrate Aegia PhysX support, and that all the physics routines were written by themselves. Most of the processing is done on the processor

I stand corrected.

I felt far cry was relativly good in the blood department. I doubt blood and gore is a top priority at this point in game development. Im sure they'll add some nice effects later on.

This game will more than likely suffer from the same problem as the first game: crap AI. There's going to be nothing more annoying in this title than baddies who can see you through the foliage. With the amount of trees and leaves and "3D" surroundings, people are going to shoot you without either of you being able to see each other.

Unless they program the AI to not be able to see through leaves, tree trunks etc, which I HIGHLY doubt.

This is a problem that plagues MANY FPSs. I doubt Far Cry 2 (or whatever it's called) will be any different.

Any other thoughts on this?

yes, the AI does suck a bit

I reckon it'll still run nicely on a XPS2, possibly at a low res but the 6800 is still a good card.

yes, but it is not 100% compatible with DirectX10 which that game is supposed to use

Yeah, I'm really not to fond of the notion that you need radar to play the game, thats such a huge detraction from the immersion of (or into?) the game, youre no longer creeping through the jungle, peeking through the foliage trying to spot targets before the discover, youre just going along untill a dot with a FOV cone apears on your "radar"....

I too can't wait to see what the mod community does to this. They have to be salivating at the possibilities as well. I still like UT2007 and that will be mod friendly with a solid base already from UT2004, but this is just so much more!

As for RADAR, I agree that could blow the immersion and that is a subtle thing that depends on a lot to make it feel right. One thing goes wrong and you lose that from the game. Some games can still get by without it, but I imagine FEAR would not be the same with a crappy card or bad sound. As for the radar in crytek games, it is kind of different, so I expect it to be the same in Crysis as FC. (opponents show up after you see them with your binoculars or hear them up close)

Looks amazing!! but

did you see who the publisher is?

Publisher: EA Games
Developer: Crytek Studios
Genre: Shooter
ESRB: Mature

Players:
Multiplayer: Online
Release: TBA

If the support is anything like 1942 or BF2 then all we can hope for is crap support with crap patches and then they go on to the next project and leave you hangin

Nah... it will play fine on the XPS-2.
I am pretty sure of it!
All options on almost max, and a decent resolution of 1280x900 should do it.
