Any of you guys using this, or looked into it. Doesnt sound like it will provide much cooling, but I might be wrong.

I've tried several and this by far is the best.

How does it work, do you just strap it on. Since it costs so little I am going to order one.

I have one and i'll vouch for it too. It rests on the back of the laptop like so...

it plugs into a USB port, but has an extra one on the unit, so it doesnt really take up one. It has two fan settings, high and low that you toggle with a switch on the back. it definitely cools the system a few degrees and i like how it raises the laptop as i find it easier to type. hope this helps.

Anyone know of a good vendor that will ship these to canada? tigerdirect doesnt have them, and I havent been able to find one on ebay....

edit

just found one on ebay, but its $43 shipped.....

Does it suck air out of the laptops exhaust vents or out from under the laptop? I cant really tell from the pics.

Also, can you put a # on the cooling? how many degrees does it drop the GPU?

Thanks.

I had one of those and it lasted about 6 months but did a fine job of cooling. FOr the price you can't really beat it.
Until the bearings start to go in it and it makes a terrible racket, but for $15 its a throw away item so yeah good cooler. The biggest problem with this cooler is getting yoour lappy to sit on it in a stable position.

Most coolers blow air under the laptop, with a cooler running full blast it might drop your gpu temps by 4-5c

Yes, it powers from the USB port so it would work on any laptop really. And it doesnt "strap" or connect anywhere on it. There are feet on the front of the cooler that you rest the laptop on.. Size-wise, it should be fine, as it seems perfect for my xps gen2.

try this from amazon.com
http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listi...Fencoding=UTF8

the coolerguys.com selection ships to canada for $8USD. the cooler itself is ~$13 from them.

I'm always surprised by the number of Canadians that don't know about NCIX.com. NCIX is about 10 times more reliable than TigerDirect, but it just doesn't have the exposure.

They also have the cooler: http://search.ncix.com/displayproduc...ufacture=Spire

Has anyone ever had any experience or have any input on this one from ams? I know it says "max 15.4" but i've seen people that have 17" laptops with vantec lapcool's that have the exact same dimensions. A bit worried about only the single fan, but it also comes with a built in removable hd compartment.

Yup.... This is the one I use

I love that little thing, it does the job, and it was cheep to boot.

I fits nicly in my laptop bag as well.

I bought this one.... the bottom one on the page

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...nufactory=1333

it's more expensive, but it's wide enough for my lappy, is quiet, and fits in my laptop case as well. It is also stable and you can use it on your lap or any surface. It circulates air directly underneath your laptop to keep your battery and underside cooler... but I didn't notice a huge difference in gpu or cpu's temp reductions.. maybe about 3 degrees or so... but it's solid and looks good.

Why do people use coolers on their laptops? I've never used a cooler on my i9300 and have never had any problems.
