Well.... when you want a Public Display of Affection you typically want someone you can trust, someone you're attacted to, and most importantly, someone you want to be SEEN with. You really don't want to be seen making out with a guy/girl that's ugly. Those are the most important components of a PDA.

Now, if you have any social phobias, you're partner can help you out with that. For example, then can help ease you into the idea of holding hands in a park, or walking with your arm around them.

Does that help?

But I'm kinda surprised that a person named "Plaything" would need advice on how to be more intimate in public......

For some reason, which just seems to escape me at the moment, you don't quite seem to be in sync with the OP, Karma, but I like that answer.

Well........... increasing your social standing, showing your partner that you don't care what other people think..............?

What? Did I say something wrong?

ok, I hate to break the pretty freaking hilarious streek with a response more to the originators liking, but I'm kinda big non-fan of PDA's..
I personally own an Axim X51V, which would be pretty great if I could ever really find a use for it, but basically it's something that looks cool, but otherwise is pretty useless to me. I suppose if I had a job where I could bring it into the building then it would be a pretty nice thing to have, but everywhere I've worked for the past 10+ years doesn't allow any type of computer, so I had no work related use for it.
I'd recommend spending money on an ultraportable laptop instead of a PDA. Then it would not only look pretty cool, but it would also be useful for a few things..

I has an Axim x51v for a couple months. I got rid of it, not because of lack of use, but for lack of function. Dell's implementation of WM5 is terrible.

Ok, on a serious note, I've had a Handspring Prism w/ 8MB for the last 4 years. It has saved my butt so many times it's not even funny. I use it to hold all of my contacts (not on my cell phone, I've lost my cell phone twice so far & I don't want to lose all of that data, especially to someone I don't know), my passwords (not on my computer, I have to reinstall Windows every once in a while & I always lose something), to-do list (I can't carry a notebook to the grocery store), and most importantly my workout schedule (I carry it around with my lifting routine so I don't forget what's next). I put directions on it when I'm going somewhere I haven't been to before, etc.

My PDA is helps me every day.

@karma

i've had a ipaq 2215 for almost 4 years. definitely a life saver as i have to know phone numbers/email addresses of not only clients, but opposing counsel. i also have a database of all clients, what each case is about, what i've done for them, what i plan to do and of course when hearings/meetings are scheduled. i'm in the process of scanning all incoming docs into pdf and copying them to the pda so that i always have the docs i need. not to mention having the various rules and statutes that i may need in teh court room. and last but not least i have noted who has paid their bill and who has not.

plaything what do you want to do w/ a PDA? do you plan to program? simply use it as a calendar/phone number keeper etc.? tell us what you want to do and it will be easier for people to make reccomenations as to what you might need.

I think PDA's are actually on their way out. They are being replace with converged devices, PDA Phones if you will. My company gives everyone in a support role either a Samsung i600 or a UTStarcom PPC-6700. I have personally owned a Sony Clie, Dell Axim X5, HP 2215, as well as a SE P900, Treo 650. I like converged devices better because I don't like to carry 2 things with me and I find that once I got used to using one I really like having the extra features.

That's what I thought, people that use it for actual work love them. I'm sure I would be the same way if I had a job and if the job allowed me to bring it inside..
BTW, my X51V hasn't had any problems at all and WM5 is flawless on it. but that's just mine..

i have to be careful b/c technically you can't bring a camera or a recording device into federal court rooms. the security guards let it slide w/ the attorneys, if it's your phone or pda that has the feature, but won't let the public do it.

where I used to work they didn't let jack slide. No cameras, computer, media. Hell, I wanted to bring a DVD in because someone wanted to borrow it and I didn't want to leave it in the hot sun, but they said no. It was pretty retarded..
and I'm seeing if these count as posts..

I hope they are not on their way out. I wouldn't want the combo. I have not kept up to date with all the lastest combo devices but in the past they don't seem to be as feature-rich as a normal PDA. Sometimes only a certain provider will carry the device you want or it takes quite a while for providers to get the new device and do whatever testing and setting up with em'.

While they aren't perfect yet they are improving with every one they release. The trick is to make one with everything that people want and still make it small enough to be easy to carry. I personally like this one.

Qtek 9100 Pocket PC Phone

It has wifi, edge, wm2005, querty keyboard, quad band, bluetooth, and a camera. This is the GSM version of the ppc-6700 that some of my co-workers have. I like it better because the 6700 has an external antenna, which I'm not that fond of. I know it's a little thick, but it does everything my 2215 did and it's a phone.
