How come there's so much negative (Red) rep here?

Hey gang,

Just an observation, but every day I seem to see several posters in this section with Red/Negative rep...is it happening here or elsewhwere? Just curious, as I hate to see the negative stuff...

Guess that brings up a good point. In general, people can get neg-repped when they defend their choice of computer brand by coming on too strong - and in particular when they attack others...sometimes it's hard not to, when you think someone is a troll - I usually try to refute those type of posts with a logical response, or just ignore them.

I think you guys are slightly eclipsing the whole idea behind the rep system by neg repping people who disagree with your taste or opinion. But maybe that's just me.

Uh, it's not us. It happens all over the forums. Generally the Apple forums are pretty good about not giving people bad rep just because.

why is my rep so bad lol... someone called me a freaking troll and gav eme neg, bahahahaha all i said was i was going to buy a macbook in the dell forums... and i get a ton of neg

This is starting to become an interesting thread. I have a good rep so far, but I may not deserve *crosses fingers and prays for no neg rep*.

Seriously though, the Apple commercials are not targeted at "real" pc users at all. If there are people out there that buy into the Mac commercials and go buy a Mac then that actually helps out all the PC users because then competition between Macs and PC's just gets stronger.

This leads to lower prices for all the pc users (and that makes me happy).

I have no problem with Macs in general and I might even get a Macbook once I build my HTPC, because I just need a nice, light lappy to use while I'm in class.

For gaming, HDTV, recording, etc, I will use my desktop because the new Conroe's are going to own .

Heh, I must be pissing people off. I got 8 negatives on Monday, all within a couple hours, and one yesterday.

Unfortunately the board seems broken on Safari now so I can't click the links to see what posts people were pissed off about.

I hurt someone's feewings.

Kakaze - Perhaps calling someone a fuc**ng twit or whatever may have garnered a few negatives (note, I'm not making a judgement on whether it was called for or not). I thought at first you were pointing the comment at my direction, but then I didn't think so. Even if you were - I wouldn't have neg repped you...don't believe in it, and refuse to do it. I think it's better to call someone out in a thread rather than ninja neg rep - especially those who don't sign their name! Obviously, whoever negged you didn't have much power.

I have judged nobody on what they put in thier posts, if its something I don't care for, I move on. /shrug.

here is what it comes dwon to: apple users are fanatical, and pc users are settled and HAPPY on their current hardware so they don't care to hear the crap. also if a new user posts a thread saying he's thinking about an apple, and then a pc user lists a couple of valid reasons why not to do so, the mac users get offended because that pc user is trying to steal a new possible convert and thus they'll flame that pc user with red rep.

Religion caused just as many conflicts as it solved.

i think that pretty much sums it up very well.
