Any other people got tired of 1920 x 1200? - Page 2

Oblivion, GRAW, LOTR B4ME, Rise & Fall etc etc. Most of the recent ones, in fact. 1920x1200 is a bit of a waste of time for me really.

When you can run natively at 1440x900, it enables you to increase rendering options, and maybe add a little AA here and there without making the machine grind to a halt now and then.

It was mainly for Oblivion, which now looks, and runs much better.

I think I mentioned above why I swapped my panel - my truelife sucks on my M1710, and I prefer the matte finish/less light leakage/lower res.

I switch back to 1920 wih 96 dpi and deal with the super small font in IE7, and I will see if i have any tear droppings.

Gamers & People demand larger fonts -> 1440 x 900

People who need the extra real estate -> 1920 x 1200

The different panels are suitable for different needs. Some people would love the WUXGA resolution (like me) and some would hate it, and all within reasons.

I believe that people should have a play with each before deciding which one to buy, if possible.

I LOVE MY WUXGA!! The screen real estate is great and watching HD trailers and DVDs on it is second to none. When I surf the web I use 120dpi and I change the resolution to 1280x768 which makes it large and much easier on the eyes.

The reason I bought my E1705 was because of 1920 x 1200 and the 7800 go card. I love the way way it displays more data in Excel then when I use my desktop computer. I don't find this resolution uncomfortable at all, and now I use my laptop more than my 3 year old desktop.

The more I use my WXGA panel, the more I hate it. Not because the resolution isn't good enough (it's perfect) but rather the quality of the panels is very disappointing. Every single one I've had so far (total of 4) has been defective in one way or another. At this point I'm trying to convince Dell to just step me up to a WUXGA panel even if I hate the high resolution since I know those have fewer problems.

Wow, thats brutal....
Do all newer lcd's use the same interface? Could you install 3rd party 17"wxga w/ truelife? That'd just be perfect....

It's still a myth that Dell didn't release a 1680x1050 panel for 9200/9300/9400/M170/M1710. That would be a good in-between choice for many.

I am kind of mixed on it. On my desk, the laptop sits a bit back, so the fonts are a bit hard to read, but I love having two documents/apps open at the same time and really like the screen real estate. I think the 1440x900 might be a nice option as max resolution at times.

Each person will have his own happy ground. I can't imagine running 1920x1200 on anything smaller than the 17", but others might like it. For yet others, 1920x1200 might be too much on even the 24" monitors.

My solution is to look at the 2405FWP for my desk. I keep the 1920x1200 resolution, but get some phyisical area to make everything more readable. The 17" laptop screen is good when I am up close to it, but when I "lounge" back in my chair at the desk with a beer/coffee, the 17" is just too small.

I also use the font enlarging on firefox/mozilla to help out while surfing. (cntl-+ or cntl-wheel)

The 30" job seems too big for a desk, plus I can save some cash.

I've definitely gotten used to 1900. Its hard to go back because there is so much real estate. I do admit at first, the fonts are a bit small, but after a while you get used to it. The worst thing I find about 1900 is how some web pages are not centered, how they sway all the way to the left. If the content is positioned in the middle, then its easier for me to read. 1900 on the 2405 is really nice though because the LCD is so big, and fonts and icons don't look so small when compared to the 9300.

LOVE it!

Yeah I get tired of 1920x1200, I wish it was 2560x1600, I ran at 2560x1920 on my 20" viewable CRT and had no problems reading it, I think these displays should be higher resolution, the 1920x1200 on a 15.4" WUXGA on an 8600 was about right but I could live with it being a bit smaller, I love high resolution and I wish it would be as high as possible.

1920 is great and i have BAD eyesight

You kidding me right? Never got tired of my beautiful 1920x1200 laptop screen it's the best.

I'm a proud new owner of 9300 that I'm going to mod the hell out of

question guys: When you have WUXGA and you play games at 1440x900 (if that's possible at all) is there any distorssion or noticable difference opposed to native WXGA???

Thanks!
I'm wondering the same thing hellstrider is. Is the blurring/jagging really that bad or does that complaint mostly come from enthusiasts who must have everything absolutely perfect? Because WUXGA sounds great, but if it's gonna screw up my games to the point of giving me a headache, I'm thinking I'll have to go with the lower res.

Cheers,
Jarrod

Why don't you just increase the system fonts as well... You can make it very easy to read if you put it on extra large fonts. You can even make it so there are big icons...
Nope, still loving every second of it. I have a habit of always setting the resolution to the highest possible regardless if it is a desktop or laptop. I don't think I would ever want to go back to my old lower res. I have no problems in games or anything either. Win win imo.

Oh, btw I have 20/20 vision...actually my doc told me that I have better then 20 on my left eye. So the small fonts aren't a problem with me. I never had to have glasses either and I use the computer like 8 hours a day.

Exactly. When I first laid eyes on this screen I was a little worried until I did the above and downloaded Firefox for websurfing, now it's perfect.
