What is the native resolution of the screen? Dell's site says XGA, but in the review it mentioned WXGA.

Thanks for the great review. I just wish the lappy had a DVI port too. Hopefully on the next revision they may put an HDMI port on it too, that would be awesome.

Can't wait to see what Dell does with this model when Merom comes out.

^ Its WXGA.

Very nice review, I would plonk some of my own cash down on one of these if I had it to spare.... I think that the 7400go beats the MR9700 I have in my notebook which is a 15.4" model, amazing to see in an 'ultraportable'

quite well at medium settings. I was pretty shocked, but I think the 2GB of memory definitely helps.

Very nice review and pics Cheez! I am seriously considering getting the 1210 because of your review! Rep for ya!

how do you think prolonged gamming would do on it? Overheating?
BF2 is a memory hog...so you're right about the 2 GB helping so much. and the video card you have in there isn't too shabby either, its new tech, and my old X800XT still runs it fine.

Well govtcheez, its been a few weeks now. How are you liking the M1210 now that you've had time to use it for a while? Still no heat issues after prolonged use?

wondering, wasnt a camera built into the 1210? judging from the pics of the lappy, you can get it without it?

Just a couple things: I wasnt sure what i saw in your open box (is that a cheap case or something?). What does dell actually ship with the pc? (dongles, extras) Also, did you get the sound blaster Audigy HD audio upgrade? With the 1.83 GHz processor, how fast are things loading up? ie. does a pdf load up instantly? if not, how long does it take? The m1210 is going to be my first laptop, and i want to make sure i made a good choce. I read several reviews, ALL positive, but im just wondering right now, wether the 1.83GHz processor is fast. How does it compare to a 2.0 GHz Pentium M processor? < If any of you've ever used one then thats fine. I was also wondering if ram made that big of an impact on the processor speed, if at all.

Btw I got my xps M1210 I like it a lot. One problem when you close the laptop lid. The video card doesn't tell the monitor to turn on again for some reason. I got the latest drivers from dell. So when you close the lid sometimes and you open it after awhile lets say 10 mins of listening to music with the screen close. The screen doesn't turn on and you can't do 'shit'. I got mine fully loaded with 2 gigs of ram, One interesting thing, put background to black, windows xp on performance settings without the eye candy, and remove desktop icons. You get an extra 45 mins of battery life with 9 cell. But I've ran system restore and done the restore CD same crap. So is this some sort of bug or what? BTW mine shipped in 5 days from order.

Edit, is there any program that can tell the screen to stay on when the lid is closed?

Your laptop should do that automatically. Are all the powesave ftns. and setting turned on/off? btw, what was shipped with your laptop? cases, etc...

k3nt, my m1210 arrived yesterday from costco.com and it included a mesh-type bag that is not big enough for the computer, but im guessing its for the power supply cables and other stuff you have. if you get the a/v pacakge you get headphones which include their own little pouch. also included is an xps cd case which holds a few cds. hope i helped out a little.
