can't inset anything into the PCMCIA slot.

I think my laptop came with a broken pcmcia slot.
I just got a wireless G pcmcia card and was going to see how it works, well puft, I can't even insert the card, it stops about a quater of an inch from going in all the way. Needles to say I'm screwed for wireless.

ANyone know what I should do? I have had the laptop for about 60 days so the 30 days is out...Is there an easy fix to this or do I have to send my laptop in for repairs?

PC cards don't go all the way in. Are you sure it's not seating?
I've noticed mine can be a little touchy. Once I get a card most of the way in, sometimes it takes a little wiggle to get it to seat correctly.

Make sure up is up and down is down. The card will not be "flush" when it is inserted because the antennae is housed outside of the laptop.

No, you don't understand, the card fits properly in my sisters laptop so I know how to insert it. It just won't go in on mine, it stops from connecting to the board, e.g. I can turn laptop sideways and the card will slide out ...

What do I do?

Use a flashlight and see if there are any foreign material in the "slot". If not, then RMA.

I hope this entire thread is not one big euphemism using cleverly designed metaphors to mean something entirely different...

What's a euphy... ..., whatever that is? And what's it got to do with Metastuff?

Can you blame me? Just look at some of the things you guys said, "a quater of an inch from going in all the way", "noticed mine can be a little touchy", "sometimes it takes a little wiggle to get it to seat correctly", "fits properly in my sisters laptop so I know how to insert it", etc. All one have to do is to replace the words laptop and card with two other objects.

huh, strange, I can get my stupid wireless card in and it comes up but i cant connect to any access point or sometimes even detect one (swear to god its not me or the card,im not a n00b well this is another post...) anywho its a linksys card so good luck getting yours to work give it a jiggle!

The range on the PC Card WLAN's sux. That is why I stopped using my linksys and got the internal card from Sager. The linksys software and the windows configuration utiltiy conflict so much with each other that you have to let windows run the card or ELSE.

Beach-re check your card config and let windows manage the connection. That might help your connection issues
