Alright, I just got my new e1705, and I'm not quite sure how to distinguish between what is Dell bloatware and what I should actually keep. The following is a list of programs that I know nothing about. Should they stay or should they go?

Broadcom management programs

Cleartype tuning control panel applet

Dell digital jukebox driver

Dell game console

Dell support 3.1

Digital content portal

Digital line detect

Documentation and support launcher

Earthlink setup files

EducateU

Games, music and photo launcher

GemMaster Mystic

Learn2 Player

LiveReg

LiveUpdate 2.6

Microsoft Plus! Digital Media Edition Installer

Microsoft Plus! Photo Story 2 LE

Modem Helper

Musicmatch for windows media player

Musicmatch jukebox

NetWaiting

Otto

QuickSet

Quicktime

RealPlayer Basic

Search Assist

Synaptics pointing device driver

URL assistant

Viewpoint media player

WebCyberCoach 3.2 Dell

WildTangent Web driver

Windows installer 3.1

Anyone actually know what all this stuff does?

I'd keep Quickset. Also, I think LiveReg and LiveUpdate 2.6 may be part of Norton Internet Security. I don't think you need any of the other crap.

Keep quickset. Use the latest touchpad driver from Dell's site for your laptop.

You really should reformat and re-install from pure WindowsXP, Dell is nice and all but the bloatware is really meant for regular joe-blow users...

Otto is just a game you can play with the MCE remote.

Personally, I would just format it.
