I have recently started gaming with e1705 and I was wondering where u guys pick up your video games. Went to best buy and picked up BF2 and Half Life2 episode one, but I was wondering if there is a better place to get games, better meaning cheaper!!

Man, don't ever pay retail!

I always buy from Ebay, used or new, you will pay 50% less.

I got Battlefield 2 for $20.00 shipped, it was used though, but still an awesome deal.

Just my thoughts.

hey.... for PC games... ever heard of bit torrents downloads???? completely free, just takes time to get depending on ur connection

Hmm, never heard of that, and free too, sounds fishy to me.

I usually just order my games from www.gogamer.com or pick them up from Wal-Mart (can't go to Best Buy or Circuit City anymore, pissed off too many managers....long story). Both are usually cheaper than Best Buy or Circuit City.

You really should play HL2 first. Episode one is the first part of an expansion to Halflife 2. Valve isn't pretending they're George Lucas. Seriously, you'll probably be lost playing Episode 1 without playing HL2 first. If you have played HL2, good for you!

Downloading games from bit-torrent is highly illegal.

He is talking about stealing the games.

You mean like downloading for free, ah that never works really, plus way too many viruses.

I have used "other" sources so I know.

I usually buy retail-where else can you get cd keys to play online w/o headache.
How could you actually buy bf2 from ebay with no guarantee that other ppl aren't using the same key?

I would never buy a used game that required a CD key to play online. If the other guy kept it you are messed.

Torrents work 99% of the time.
I usualy buy games I like but sometimes I give them a try on torrents first.
Also sometimes I download a cracked copy of a game I bought because I dont want do use the original DVD/CD and get it scratched up and stuff.

Yeah, I have not played HF2 yet, so thats why I have not installed episode one, i just picked it up because best buy had it on sale, $14.00.

So basically retail is the way to go, i was going to ask about buying used on ebay and the keys, but someone brought that up.

Bit torrent, I tried using this back about 2 years ago when it was in its infancy and I never got it to work, might have to check it out again someday.

gogamer was actually more expensive than best buy after taking into account shipping.

I get mine at amazon. Free shipping and no taxes *depending where you live. At the least, I save on taxes, but once in a great while, they also have good sales.
These days I get most my games fom Zest. Most games they are more than happy just to email you the CD, then a quick stop off at my fav. IRC channel to grab the installation files
I managed to score BF2 for $20AUD vs. the $90AUD (rip off!) at EB

Mininov.................Uh ebay is where I normally get mine.

Just be sure you buy from a reputable dealer. You don't want to wind up woth a comprimised CD key. Got my BF:2 CD ver for $25 Shipped, and SF CD key for $20, never had any probs.. I love Ebay.

The thing about downloading games besides the obvious moral issue is most multiplayer games require a valid CD-Key to connect. In most cases the CD-Key thats included with cracked versions of PC Games can only be used by one client per server. If someone else is using that key on that server... no dice. Also you can only play on a handful of servers (cracked or private).

If you like the game buy it. Its so much simpler.

Pwahahahahahaha!

I buy epic games that I really love. Age of Empires 3, Unreal Tournament Original (Gold Edition), Quake 3 Arena (Gold Edition), etc etc. All games I love.

Otherwise, I usually download games from elsewhere to try em out first.

If I am patient I'll go with GoGamer. Their prices are excellent and they ship quickly. I've tried Amazon a few times, and the only thing that irks me is they seem to take a while to process and pack up the order. Once in a while I'll go into a store such as EB or GameStop. However, there are less and less PC games displayed in those stores now. And, IIRC, GameStop just bought EB.

My new thing is purchasing the game over online vendors websites (DirectDownload is one I think) and just downloading it. With a FIOS connection at home, I can go hatch a loaf, come back, and the game is ready to install.
