Heat and Noise questions

Hi!

I have a question regarding the noise level of the area 51. Does it sounds like a powerplant or could you actually get to sleep right on it?

How warm does it get under? could you recomend me to have it in my lap and still be able to make babies? With a pillow under it then? Or do you actually need to have it on a table? (Would miss my sofa)

Thanks for letting me know how my new notebook will be ...

Its not that loud at all, just a quiet fan. It gets pretty warm, depending on what your doing. You shouldnt put any laptop on a cloth surface like a pillow, itll stuff up the vents. Lap is ok, but still not good...get a portable lap desk.

But if I use a small pillow, that is just under the computer but dont get up on the sides, is that a problem still you think?

YES! Big problem. The laptop must get air in/out of all sides. You cannot block the bottom at all. It's a hard surface or nothing at all...unless you want to fry your machine and thighs.

its so dumb, my brother was upgrading the bios. he did exactly what the guy said to and it screwed up his motherboard and the insurance does not cover it because he was not on the phone with the guy! So now he has to pay $500 to get a new motherboard, and that's lame.

Most call centers log calls. Hopefully not much info was exchanged during the call and pretending to go through the motions of updating bios can still be done to get the exchange.

The area 51's fans aren't loud at all, and when they are its because of intense gaming which require more cooling. When the computer is idle there is a faint hum which isnt bothersome at all from a few feet away. The only reason I would not be able to sleep in the same room with this lappy is the blinking LED eyes, which get really annoying at night (thats why you cover them up).

I would not recommend putting the Area 51m directly on your lap, especially when gaming becuase it can get intensely hot underneath. Also, a pillow would be a bad solution because the bottom needs to remain ventilated. I recommend some type of flat hard surface, I use the Targus Lapdesk which can be found at CompUSA (or you can make your own like others have).

I use a pice of plywood works great I even hav enough space to put a mouse pad on it and use my optical mouse! I Play games while sittingon the couch watching the screen savers. Gaming over a wireless netwok does work quite well if any body was wondering!

Actually any piec of plywood will do mine is actually the door off my computer deks it had a door to hide where the tower went and my tower was to long to shut the door so I took it off an now its my lapdesk!
