Latest dell drivers performance increase over latest extreme g drivers?

I benched the dell m170 7800 gtx drivers released a few days ago and got a 6710 in 3dmark05, up from around 6500 with the latest extreme g drivers. Anyone else see an improvement in the dell drivers. I though the extreme g drivers would offer better performance.

Havent tried, but I definatly will now.

Are there a new set of drivers out for the 7900 cards, or is it the same driver package like usual?

I was gona switch back just so my lcd pannel would turn off when the lids closed.

Thats a juicy increase you got there, cheers!

Looks like the latest 7900 gtx drivers are just alittle older, they came out early june http://support.dell.com/support/down...&fileid=167482
Let me know if they increased your score any!

Anyone know off hand if the Dell driver package cleans the old one out itself?

Or do I need (I guess I probably should) run the driver cleaner thingy before updating them?

Also, have any of you had any problems using a driver cleaner utility? I.E. messing up dell settings (as mentioned in the LCD off on lid close, etc...)

You should definetly uninstall the old drivers first, driver cleaner is a good idea. Never had a problem with driver cleaner, nothing can go wrong that a driver reinstall cant fix.

Can anyone confirm the latest Dell drivers give better performance than the G drivers?

(please mention versions)

The 9x.xx series are not very fast.

XG_MobileForce_84.56_v2.40 are the best

When I look for drivers for my 7800GTX the latest ones are dated 9/29/2005. That's just sad. Why is there a difference between my XPS Gen2 and your M170 as far as video drivers?

Probably just a mistake on dells part. With our 7800s now I guess our xps' can be considered m170s

I am pretty happy with the 84.56's and since there have been lots of posts about problems, I have held off on upgrading. (I originally posted a link on a different thread to newer drivers)

Sadly, a big factor has also been a lack of gaming time recently, so there is no point in upgrading.

I would recommend the driver cleaner in general, but definately on a downgrade. I have been using it with my XPS and have not had a problem. Not always the case before.

Upon further testing the extreme g 84.56 drivers give me the same score of 6710 as the new dell drivers and seem to improve game fps a bit. I guess Ill stick with the extreme g drivers, thanks snooz for pointing out the 9x.xx drivers werent too good.

Ok. What would be the best (and most stable) drivers for my laptop?
The latest Nvidia 83.40?
Dell's latest R128080.EXE 84.69?
Or one of Xtreme-G's drivers?

No problem I did a ton of driver testing trying to hit 10000 in 3DMark05. XG 84.56 was the only driver I could get over the hump. They also seem to be the most stable. With the other driver sets my overclocks were not as stable.

For those's of us who are stuck with the 6800 ultra go's in our xpsgen2's, what is the best driver for now?

Hi,

I know there is a driver cleaner program for video card. Can anyone provide the links? Thanks

I usually uninstall the video driver and then install the new. Never has the chance to clean the old driver.

I just switched from 91.xx to the 84.56 driver, I get a better 3dmark score, but I'm noticing a significant decrease in performance (with the exact same settings) in SWAT 4.

What are the "tweaks" in the XG drivers besides the coolbits page? Are there actual subtle optimizations in the driver?
