Read this reply, and understand there are only a handful of display manufacturers worldwide.

OK, you might be ok with defective displays being sold but i am not. Would you be satifiied with no more than 5 or more dents on a brand new car if they are not on the doors?

How can manufactors not be liable for defective screens? Is it because there is only a handfull of them and they can get away with it? A defective product is still a defective product.

When i purchased my laptop there was no notification of the pixel policy at time of purchase. I only learned about the policy when i questioned the screen quality and dead pixels. It appears many Sager resellers to not warn of the Sager pixel policy at time of purchase, not just the one i purchased my laptop from.

By and large, the LCD display manufacturer should be responsible - not the notebook manufacturer. Again, reread seaker's comment. Quality assurance can only be held up to a point; beyond that, the creator of the individual components should require higher standards for their products.

Hopefully that clears up the misunderstanding on your part.

Agreed, but there is no misunderstanding on my part, i am perfectly aware of who is responsible.
Thanks for your reply.

Will respectfully disagree. The below statement suggests the contrary:

I should say, Sager charging extra for no dead pixels is unexecptable, when other manufactors do not and resellers should notify Sager customers of this policy during purchase. Let the buyer know up front.

What manufacturers are you referring to that offer 0 dead pixels as a standard option.
that is awesome. I will always continue to buy sager notebooks.

PCTorque ROCKS

This is EXACTLY the reason when I needed a lighter/better battery life laptop (minus widescreen, which I despise...I know, I'm weird) in addition to my 9860, that I ordered my 4881 from PCTorque.

PCTorque ROCKS.

I m not sure if zero bright dots means no dead pixel.
But ASUS guarantees LCD panels with zero bright dots in selected notebook series.

But theres probably a hidden cost already applied in the asus notebook series. ie they charge you more for the overall machine.
So Sager is sill the best!!

I believe that in Luke's content, dead pixels means, Always lit, never lit, sometimes lit, blinking, and incorrect color or changing colors.

I believe Asus has one.

And I am not certain about Acer.

Is it usual to have a dead pixel on a new laptop?

(There must be some quality control before a notebook is released)
I've had 2 other notebooks with bad pixels and didn't like it.

Currently, I'm developing a game in which objects in the distance can be reduced to exactly 1 pixel in size. Every pixel on my screen is important and I need a screen with no flaws to do my work properly.

I bought a Sager because of their pixel insurance. The $200 was well worth it and I will do it again when I need a new computer.

I think it is BS!
They offer a $200.00 dead pixel guarentee. So whoever dosn't order it is "guarenteed" to get dead pixels! BS in my book.
I will not spend 2500.00 to risk this knowing they offer a guarentee.
Think about it. They give the good screens to the people who pay for it. So us poor peons who don't flip for it will get their dead pixel screens because they have to unload them on someone.

Uneducated response from the ill informed. That's simply not the case. Neither by policy or by delivery. Best that you check your facts and the threads that concern this topic.

Best to you.....

I have to admit, there are a lot of PC Borg on this forum..... "We charge $200 for no dead pixels" PC Borg - "Way to go, whoo hoo, you guys rock..." This should be sent to the Daily Show for John Stewart to use..... You will be assilmilated, resistance is futile..

I don't know, personally I think its a nice option to be given. I appreciate PC Torque for offering it, and while I'm not sure if I'll use it when I buy my next computer from them, I will definitely consider it.

Tell you what, give me two months then ask again. Personally I think two hundred dollars is a very decent price to guarantee a perfect screen on a 2500-4000 dollar machine.

I suppose. Though some resellers of cheaper computers will do it for free. You'd think the higher end notebook sellers would be the ones more likely to do that.
