Dell laptop explodes at Japanese conference - Page 2

But a laptop should be able to run on a tableclothed table without exploding. If it cant, there is definitely something wrong with the design.

the cloth on the table is very thin... makes no difference.

I don't think so. Unless proved they were using it in a harmful way (very unlikely), I believe Dell (or Nokia or any other company for that matter) should be responsible for providing a defective product sold as a whole. Most (all?) components in a laptop are really manufactured by 3rd parties, so it would be an (very!) unfair situation to the consumers if a company like Dell buys from them knowing in advance that nobody will be responsible for damages (of course I don't believe that, but...). Not Dell because they don't make the batteries, neither the company because it's in China and nobody will reach them (?).

man I can see the scene seconds before hand:

Man1: Awesome I'm nearly getting a quadriple-triple-snipple overclock on my X800
Man2: Uh dude.... that's so not safe...
Men1: Man this is awesome look it's almost steady
Man2: I'm gonna go.... over here.... *steps away*
Man1: Oh awesome it's th-KABOOOOM

End of scene and cameras fade

Thanks you all

Wait, if you look at the pictures, it seems that it WAS pluged in...
And since it was in Japan, maybe the AC to DC converter was a little less than built for Japan's eletrical current, and it could have been that it was overpowered 'causeing the battery to become overheated, or it might have overloaded the transistors, which then blew which helped get the battery to blow, which would explain the multipul explosions.

More on this from the Inq:

And the punchline from the Inq:

It seems to be a Dell Inspiron 1150, and it seems like the explotion wasn't caused by the battery after all:

not to add to the corny jokes, but that's not a laptop - it's a keep-this-100-feet-away-from-yourself-top

Well it seems to me in the first picture that if the thing exploded multiple times then either the guy behind was stupid enough to get that close to it when it was still exploding (not likley) or that was when it had first exploded. And i find it hard to beleive that someone got a camera out that fast to take a picture of it. It just looks kind of planed to me.

That is just my opinion.
