I just got my new D620 and I need some advice on how to get it started. Im decently computer savy but I still need some advice.

What is a good FREE spyware program, what is the optimal viewing resolution........etc. Basically, if you were me what woould you do to the machine to keep it safe and productive.

Latitudes don't come with much software on them if you didn't order any with it. I'd just grab Lavasoft's Ad-Aware www.lavasoft.com and also Google for Spybot Search and Destroy.

Optimal Viewing resolution depends on which screen you got. WXGA would be 1400x900 or so, WSXGA would be 1680x1050, and WUXGA would be ~1900x1200 (don't know the exact number). I didn't do much to my D820 at all after I got it from Dell other than install Firefox and some games on it.

I just got mine too and the only thing I really took off was google desktop and then added all the stuff I like like firefox, winamp, etc.

BTW the highest resolution right now is the WXGA+ which is 1440x900.

Install antivirus software.
Install Spybot search and destroy.
Install a firewall.
Use Firefox with NoScripts or Opera for a browser.

Avoid programs that may have spyware such as Limewire.

Limewire has spyware? I know Frostwire is a free alternative to it.
