Power supply error when Starting Vista.

When I try starting my XPS M170 running Vista. I get the following error.

"System needs a 130 Watt AC power supply" blah blah blah you get the picture. Then when I start Vista using Batery all is fine, except I am locked at 800 MHZ clock speed. I try plugging my power supply and I get another Error along the same lines. Only difference is when I do this the system downclocks to 600 MHZ. Got me baffled. Is my power supply Dying? Under XP I can run my games with no difference what so ever. It only does it in VISTA.

Any help would be appreciated.

Swap out the Mother Board. Are you serious. Man I wasn't hoping for that. Maybe I can get lucky and get an upgrade. Doubtfull but would be nice. If ired up vista today and all worked fine. I sure hope it isn't the mother Board. And sad thing is I don't have warranty anymnore. I didn't see the point of chucking out more cash for the Warranty when it would voided the day I took it apart.

What does the BIOS say about the type of power supply? It may just be a faulty power supply.

You were absolutly right. It was only the power brick that was damaged. A new brick is on the way.

Cheers
