Windows Shutdown

I installed a 7800gtx the other day. It didn't seem to have any glitches until I came across closing my screen. I noticed it when I was done testing out the card, I went back about an hour later, opened and it was dead. Inital thought was it died, then I asked myself if I shut it down first. So I booted up no problems. Put the screen down, the power led was flashing, open the screen. Nothing. Press the button, the bios pops up and windows boots, this is weird, without saying improper shutdown. So I figured maybe it needs a fresh install, which I was planning on doing anyway. So after that, and doing all the updates, I tried it out again. Same thing. Has anyone else came across this, and if so how do you fix it. It isn't a big deal, but I am so used to just shuting the screen thinking it is going to resume right where I last was.

So you didn't have Dell install it for you?

From what I have read, Dell wouldn't support me upgrading my bios from i9300 to XPS gen 2 bios. Anywho, I don't think it would be a Dell issue anyhow, it doesn't random shutdown. When I place my screen against the keyboard, it acts like it is going into hibernate mode, and the power symbal with the green led is blinking, very slowly with a fade in/out effect, like it used to when i closed my laptop shut, only now, when I push the screen into the upright position, the power led becomes solid, and the hdd led flickers, then it shutsdown. Then I press the power button, and it boots up like I did a normal shutdown. No windows has shut down improper or anything, it acts like a normal shut down. Before I would open my laptop up, and it would save where I previously left off.
