I'm not sure about this so hopefully you can help me. Aren't the keyboards on the E1405,1505,1705 etc..all the same size? If so could I buy the replacement keyboard for a m1710 and put it in my E1405?
nope i think the 1505, and 1405 are different from the 17" notebooks. So i don't think it would work but i may be wrong

I think the part number for the palm rest is FF084. If not, then it’s WG343. One is the keyboard, the other is the palm rest.

I don’t think so. However… If you read the link to my mod… I didn’t just buy the keyboard for the M1710 and slap it on my i9300. It won’t work like that. Both the palm rest and keyboard required some work to be able to use it on the i9300.

Please people, don’t look at my pics and just assume it can be done w/out any problems. Read my short review on the mod by clicking on the link. I had to do a lot of cutting and switching of components to get all this to work.

The M1710 keyboard's part number is WG343. Just received my & it's a straight swap for the E1705. No modification needed!

It looks really good. Can I ask a noob question though? I currently have the e1705 and I really like the black/silver look.

I wanted to take a m170 palmrest and swap it with mine, is that going to be straight swap or do you think its going to require cutting and modding like you did with your 9300? I already swapped the lcd bezel, that was exactly the same.

I believe the LED's just stay red. I havn't figured out a way to control them at all. I can't even turn the LED's off while the computer is on.

Looks good where did you pick-up the chassis at
post #13 of 20

Hello,
How are you getting the 2.26ghz out of the M735?

Will the M780 @2.26ghz work in the i9300?

I am just starting to mod mine and want to get the most bang for the buck.

Open to suggestions...

Peace,
j

XPS - do a forum search for pin mod; this has been discussed thousands of times here.

And yes, the 780 will work just fine.

did you have to do any modification to getthe touchpad LED to turn on? mine doesn't light up for some reason...

I didn't have to do anything special. I thought as long as it's plugged in and has power it should be good to go. The only thing that I can think of that may be an issue for you, my i9300 has XPSGen2 bios. Maybe your bios are stopping you from making them light up. I don't know. Good luck.

ahh, it's probably the BIOS then. thanks.

Hi, does the backlight on the touchpad go on or off ? can you control it or is it on all the time while the machine is on ? Good mod though, am considering doing it, have gone and changed my keyboard to the XPS one, and am thinking of changing the palm rest and screen cover too.
Cheers
Dan.
