M1210 Extra battery and AC Adapter?

Thread Starter
I just got my M1210. Perfect. I called Dell and asked about an extra battery, AC adapter, and port replicator. None available yet. Must go to new orders first. Anyone know if any other Dell models have battery, AC adapter, or port replicator which are interchangeable?
Thanks,
Louis

You can use any standard Dell power adapter 65W or greater (with a round tip). I have a house full of Dell adapters that I've collected over the past couple of years and they all work fine(65W-90W). I'm even using a adapter for an X1 which is about half the size of the one supplied with the the M1210 (it's tiny). I do get an alarm that the system will not charge the battery but other than that it still works in a pinch. The other Dell adapters in my collection work without issue and charge just fine. Here's a couple that should work just as well as your stock unit. Look around for a Dell Home coupon and save a little more $$.

Dell does not make a port replicator for the M1210. You can use a generic replicator but it won't give you all the M1210's ports.

As far as a battery is concerned you're going to have to sit tight for a while and wait for them to start selling the batteries as accessories. I've been burned before so I made sure I ordered an extra. Of course my order took about twice as long as most here because mine was stuck in production waiting for the spare battery to arrive.

I have some PA-10 family adapters, (90 Watts) that I use for my 8500.

would you expect any problems using that for the M1210?...

Nope, should work just fine. I have one as well.

How about the 130W jobs for the 17" XPS? The option for an extra adapter was not available on my order, but I have an extra traveling power supply for my XPS m170.

I would hate to fry the wife's laptop with my power supply, but just carrying one on trips would be nice.

The XPS supply should work as well. As long as the output voltage from the replacement supply is the same as the original supply you're OK. Dell has standardized the output voltage from their adapters for the past couple of years. So anything with the round adapter plug should work.

Yep I'm using the XPS M170 130w power supply just fine on the M1210.
