Hi!
I have a green vertical line over my acer aspire 5021 lcd display. It started to show over 2 months from now, but i just moved the lcd panel a little and it dissapear, but now i can't make it dissapear anymore. Can someone offer some advice on solving the problem. I think that the lcd cable went out of place and needs to be reconnected, but i'm not sure. Thanks

One of the LCD tabs has cracked/broken/whatever. It's not jus the cable. And there's nothing you can do...

Is there really nothing can be done???
cuz my Travelmate 4000 now has 4 vertical lines....
the first line appeared 3.5 months ago, the second 1 month ago, the third yesterday, and the fourth has just appeared couple hours ago.
This is very annoying......

Most of these problems are cause from wireless card ,, and basicly has to have the LCD replaced
post #6 of 12
Wireless card?? that's bad cuz i use wi-fi often, and that means that acer notebook (or rather lcd monitor) is not designed for wireless??
Is the same problem found for cristalbrite/truebrite display???
...and just as u say, there's no repairing the lcd, it's gotta be replaced, *sigh*

Well... per OTHER forums... vertical line issue

I'm 6 months into ownership of a 1640. Extremely happy until now.

First of all the GOOD news (and I mean absolutely NOTHING personal here) cobrajoker and ICE TEA may not have offered correct info when it comes to this subject. If I'm wrong, please disregard.

The BAD news is it appears a lot of us Aspire owners will be sending back their units within the first 12 months to get the cable issue resolved.

AND there is no mention of an Acer permanent solution. So if you didn't extend your warrantee to 3 years find a good cheap tech repair man near you.

1. This has NOTHING to do with WiFi. My vertical green line disapears by simply pinching the TOP of the monitor encasing right where the top of the vertical line is located. I use WiFi 7/24

2. Other forums have already posted that sending back for a cable replacement solved the problem... no mention anywhere else (that I've searched anyway) of the entire LCD needing replacement.

Too bad reviews aren't put out AFTER things like this show up... I would have bought a Toshiba or Sony had I known.

ssimeunc, I hope you'll drop me an email with update soon. I'm just dealing with the one line and expecting new ones to show up until I hear your results.

Depending on what Acer does / doesn't do for you, I may unscrew the casing and see about plugging it in a bit tighter myself.

Best of luck.

@Loanrep4u

the line dissapears when you pinch the top...but does it appear again when u release the pinch or not.
i had to replace the entire lcd (which cost me qiute a fortune), damn....coz i was late 3 months to extend my warranty...

I, too would have bought Sony or Toshiba had i known this
(does this problem really often happens in acer??)

Hmm u only purchased for 6 months and the lines has already appear??? 6months mean the warranty is still valid, so u can get the lcd replaced and might only have pay for the service fee ($15 at most i guess)

Hi! I got my laptop back from service (after waiting a month for parts). They replaced the LCD and MOTHER BOARD. Now everything works fine, but for how long .
Ugh, they replaced the motherboard too?? So the problem lies on the motherboard too?? that makes me worry, cuz they only replaced my LCD...
I just hope no more problem will happen to my notebook.

Yep. Will send it back, get it fixed, see what I can fetch for it on eBay and start over with another Toshiba I guess. What a shame. Really liked this machine.

Thanks for the 411 ssimeunc. Sorry to hear about your shelling out so much Kyuugetsuki Hir (how much? over $250?)
well it was about $ 200 (for lcd only), they didn't charge me the service fee (out of pity i guess)
Goodluck for your trading!!!!
