OK, so I probably should have asked a question like this BEFORE I spent an excessive amount of money on a laptop, but my impulsive nature prevented otherwise. But never mind that... The fact is I bought (but could still return; see my other post regarding a possible SAGER purchase) and recieved a new Sony VAIO Z1VAP a few days ago. I'm goin to be using 80 percent for work application; web design, some VB coding, some graphic design here and there, etc. Anyway, I understand that the 16 MB of video RAM is an almost excessively small amount; my Matrox g400 had double that, and that was over 5 years ago! I fired up Quake3 on the new machine just to give a look see on how well it could handle an "intese 3D app", and while it held its own at 800x600 for a spell, I can see how 16M isn't going to go far. What I bought this particular machine for was the portability and feature set; it's incredibly light and has all the wireless gadgetry you could want right now. Anyways, cutting to the chase, for what I'm looking to do, does anyone here think 16 VRAM is WAAAAY too small, and I should send it back for a different brand/model. So far, I really like the machine, and performance-wise I can't complain, but I'm finding myself able to reach a conclusion on the long-term analysis... hehehe.
I just wanted to get some input from some more experienced folk out there; I'm a seasoned desktop builder/user of almost a decade which I use mostly for high-end gaming, but this is my first laptop purchase, so I'm really not sure what to expect/think. TIA.
