from what I saw in the news yesterday, its their former owner when they were public (back in their poor quality days before they were privatized, well before they purchased gateway)

kinda funny coincidence, tho. the eMachines technical support center is in the building that used to belong to Packard Bell and house their tech support when they still operated in the Americas. it stil has the Packard Bell logo on the side of it too (they never took it down)

A helluva career. I, on the other hand, am not only posting with my notebook, but field-testing the battery life on the crapper.
As well as how well the LCD holds up to corrosive fumes.
More info than you may have needed- jpegs available on request...what sacrifices we put ourselves through for technology.

Simple short answer, you can say that.

Though wasn't that just on paper, didn't the CEO of eMachines become the new CEO of Gateway.

long story short Gateway stock value was simply too crappy at the time to effectively buy Gateway and privatize it. so they did it the other way around.

That's what I had read also, that Gateway was posting quarterly losses, while eMachines was innovating with Arima .

Is that the same building that is in SLC, Utah next to a Grocery Market(Smith's I think)? If so, I use to work there!!

Umm that may not be a good thing to see on the forums... lol

lol yes, but the Smiths is empty now (it moved a block down). in fact, more or less that entire complex is empty now except for the call center
