Need help troubleshooting wifi issue

Hi,

I have an e1405 with the upgraded Intel ABG pro wilreless module. This is the only thing I've had problems with on this machine. Every couple of days or so my notebook looses its connection to my Netgear WGT624 WAP, and then is unable to reconnect. Now there are times when for some inexplicable reason my wifi connection gets dropped but then the system reconnects ok, that isn't what I'm talking about.

In this instance there is nothing I can do to get the notebook to reconnect to the Netgear router. There will be several times where the Windows wireless configuration willl say its trying to reacquire the address, but it fails. When its failing like this the signal strength looks good usually at least 3 bars, frequently 4 or 5.

So far the only solution I've come up with is to disconnect the router from its power and restarting it. Once I do this the notebook connects up with no trouble. I'm pretty new to this wifi business, so I'm hoping someone has a few suggestions on how to troubleshoot this, or can point me to some web links, that have troubleshooting tips or software.

Thanks, Derek

Have you tried to connect to other wireless networks? Does the same thing happen on them? If not Sounds like your laptops wifi NIC is running fine, but the netgear router seems to be the source of your problems.

In the past i've bought a netgear router...returned it the same day. =\
