Post your 7800 GTX temperature

Please post your 7800 GTX temperatures.

1. when idle
2. when playing a game such as NFS:MW, F.E.A.R., Civilization 4, etc..

Please only post if you are using i8k or i9kfangui, in addition, I only want to see the temperature as recorded in a box in i8k or i9k that says Highest Temp.

I do not want temperatures that was obtained through alt tabbing.

btw, please almost post the max fan speed of your GPU by hitting Force Max Speed in i9k.

Thank you.

Not gonna do a screenshot, but it usually never got higher than 92C or so at 450/1150 and idles at around 55-58C depending on the ambient temperature, I got these numbers using rivatuner and having the graph going while I played the game and looked back later, I also used the OSD to see the temps while I am in game

The 6600 GT in my desktop idled at 90C and got to 135C (where it crashed) all at stock frequencies, I put as5 and it went down to around 72C at idle and around 108C during load, but that still is pretty high in my oppinion, my 7800GTX runs pretty cool considering the overclock I think.

Please note that the temperatures in i8kfangui are 10C lower than they really are. The temperature given by i9kfangui is 6C lower I believe.

For some reason, mine have dropped a lot. I put on ceramique before any of these temps were taken and ambient is roughly the same.

November 2005: idle 55-60, load 95-103, atitool 113!!
June 2006: idle 55-60, load 80-92, atitool 90

I have no reason to explain the drop. load is with far cry/fear. atitool version was the same both times. Also of note is that the sticky glue holding my laptop feet on has melted enough that I need to redo it. One by GPU and one on the cover for the mini-pci slot (which was the most melted). No overclock.

All temps adjusted for 6C difference between i8kfangui and the nvidia driver reading. All load/ati temps with fans on high eventually and all with CPU undervolted .700/1.084

/shrug, but happy

Thanks all for your detailed responses.

Here is mine,

Reading from i9k (Before 6 degree adjustment):

Idle: 50-55 degree C
Load: 94-99 degree C (99 after NFS:MW)

Max GPU fan speed 3800 rpm, ambient temp. 74 degree F.

Time to clean the heatsink. And by putting some under the lappy increase airflow will help to decrease temp by few C.

Holy crap, I gotta get one of those rev2 boards. Even with the 10C difference, that is a LOT better than mine.

Hiya Guys

Well my Lappy sits on a Targus Podium Coolpad allowing better air flow.

My idle temps are between 50-53 and under heavy game load, I go lan gaming for 3 hours on a Thursday and play COD2, Fear, Halo back to back my temps rise to about 82-86. I am getting the Pacific Breeze cooler which i intend placing behind my lappy which should knock a few degrees of the above on lan night.

Hope this Helps.

Specs are XPS GEN 2.
2.16 Gig
2 Gigs Ram
100 Gig Tosh 7200 c:
80 Gig Seagate 5400 d:

Thank you for your inputs.

When you say you play FEAR, do you play at max setting (4xAA) except for soft shadow?

Is it? 68+10=78, and you posted 80 for yours. Well, yeah, you said 80-92, but then what does "load" mean? We would have to make sure that the exact same games are run, with the same settings, over the same amount of time. Otherwise, 2 degrees is not worth worrying about at all, I'd say. It's definitely not enough to think about getting a Rev02 card.

i live in Socal.

Idle temps are right now 65c. (WHY THE HELL IS IT SO HIGH!?).

Load, depending on application
chaos theory 95-104c
cs:s 800x600 65c (doesn't even change from idle temp)
oblivion: 84c

Currently at 51.
idle 48-52C

Stress (BF2) 64-68C

Just got a newer VC and my lappy got a good BJ last month. So it's running smooth. Be sure to keep yours clean to keep it cool. I also use a duel-fan pad underneath.
