external firewire HD isnt recognized?!?!

Hi,

ive got a problem, my external FIREWIRE HArddisk (250GB) wont get recognized under WINXP . i have connected it , power is there, but windows does not recognize it, the funny thing is when i switch the jumper on my Harddrive to 32GB LIMIT Mode the external drive gets recognized but when its on normal 250GB Mode nothing happens, when i connect it tru USB2 its working without a problem but i really need that firewire port for it cause my usb2 are full.

its an DELL Inspiron 9300 and an External Firewire Case with Oxford Chip and a Samsung 250 GB HArddrive

Any help would be appreciated

check ur firewire Controller in device manager - might need an update

thx , do you know where i cpould get the 1.04 firmware for the 911 oxford chip, this the firmware i need to update

best bet is getting someone using mac to update the firmware for u. this is a "known" issue between oxford chip and windows. just wish that windows and oxford get their act together and make it easy for users.
one can "sometimes" find the 1.04 firmware for windows, but it requires $$ (nasty stuff)
last resource - mail the manufacturer (fruitless til now )
i noticed that u are in germany, getting a mac user should not be an issue, visit the apple forum in germany, they are a bunch helpful people
