vista ready promise ultra drivers

I'm trying to install vista beta 2 on an 8890 but I need vista ready drivers for the promise ultra controller. I am not running raid on this computer. I've googled and searched but can't seem to find the right drivers. Would anyone know where they can be found and how best they should be installed.

Thanks

I have a 9860 running Vista for almost 2 weeks now. All I did was to copy the files from the WinXp directory to the root of the floppy. All is working fine. I also loaded Office 2007 Beta. The only drivers I am still looking for are for the TV tuner card. The only version of Symantec AntiVirus that will work is 10.0..1.628 as far as I know.

Would I find these drivers in the Windows folder or find out the folders by going to Systems-device mgr-IDE controllers-driver details

Would those be the drivers I copy onto a floppy? and how should I install during Vista installation, is their a prompt to install drivers?

When you are loading Vista from the DVD, you should see....

Press a key when you see the message "Press any key to start up from the CD/Press any key to boot from CD".

Press the F6 key when you see the message “Press F6 if you need to install third party SCSI or RAID driver”.

When the Windows Setup menu appears, press the <S> key to "Specify Additional Device".

Insert the ATA Driver Diskette into the external USB Floppy drive. This is where you should have copied the files, from the disk, from the WinXP directory to the root of the floppy.

I apparently don't have the correct winxp promise drivers, as vista will not load them. Which drivers should I use for the 8890 and where do I get them?
That has been discussed here already. Just use the CD that came with your computer. Those drivers work just fine with VISTA.

Oops, sorry I didn't notice the date.

I am having issues putting vista on my Sager 9860. I have the drivers on a USB flash drive (the ones on the CD as well as 3 other versions (including the latest) and vista STILL cannot detect my hard drive after i try loading all of them. I have no idea why its not recognizing because its the exact same drivers i used for the XP installation when i installed XP. Any help would be appreciated since i have had this vista DVD just laying around gathering dust for the past few weeks and i want to use it.

What version of Vista are you using? I think it might require the drivers to be in the root directory of whatever external media you're loading from. IIRC, all I did was copy all the files in the XP directory of the floppy disk to the root directory and Vista was able to load the Sager provided Promise XP drivers for my 9860.

My install was an Ultimate upgrade with clean install. It wouldn't install without controller drivers, which I came to find right on my Sager disc, after searching the web for a couple days.

i had tried putting them in the root of the USB flash drive as well, and that still didnt work. Vista has always loaded the drivers successfully, but it never can find my hard drive. Keeps saying there are no hard drives connected. Im using vista business full OEM which i got from my school.

If it's not finding your hard drive the controller drivers are not installed. I can't imagine vista letting you get too far into the process without a hard drive showing.

What usually happens when you load the drivers with vista? When i point to the drivers it shows it as promise RAID 387 controller (or whatever its called) and then i click next to load them. It does something for a few seconds and then goes back to the window which shows your hard drives and continues to say that there are no drives. Is it actually not loading the drivers? that would make no sense since it doesnt give an error.

I think you select the correct driver from the list, then next. It will tell you if you chose the wrong driver. At least with my install it went that way, after rejecting several tries at downloaded drivers.
Well it must have loaded the driver i needed then since it never rejected any of the driver versions i tried (or at least showed that the drivers were rejected).

After Vista Loads the driver, it will pop up a window that lists all your drives and all raw, FAT, or NTFS partitions on each drive. You then select the partition which you want to install to. The driver I used to get Vista to recognise the HD on my 9860 (the 9860's XP driver from Sager's support site) was not a RAID driver. Are you actually trying to install to a RAID array?
I have a SATA hard drive and im pretty sure i need the raid drivers even though i dont have two hard drives in raid since its SATA. In the BIOS its always been switched to RAID instead of ATA for the last 2 years i've been using it.
If you're not using a RAID array, you should switch to ATA mode in BIOS. In any case, the controller should auto detect between PATA and SATA. Actually I'm surprised you got XP to install in RAID mode.
