Yonah or Merom? 17" Macbook Pro

Hey guys, I'm getting ready to purchase a MacBook Pro.... few questions for those who can help.

1.) Would a 2.16Ghz DuoCore Yonah Processor be sufficient enough for digital video editing, photoshop work? I don't game on my PC, so that's not a big deal.

2.) Should I go with the 15" screen or the 17"? I won't be lugging it around too much, so weight isn't a big deal. The 17" is $200 more however it comes with a FireWire 800 port, extra USB port, Dual Layer 8x DVD burner...

3.) Should I wait for the Merom Processor, or should Yonah last at least 2 years? That's a minimum of what I want to get out of this notebook.

Thanks in advance fellas/ladies!

The processor will be more than enough for video and photoshop.

For video you'd probably be better off with the 17 because of the extra space but the 15 has a fair amount of space to it too. If the dual layer burner and firewire 800 are important to you go for the 17.

If you can wait, wait for the Merom. August-September is when it "should" be out. They'll help reduce heat significantly which is a good thing, and hopefully Apple will have redesigned the innards a little but more to even increase the reduction.

actually you can buy it now then just buy a core 2 duo and swap the cpu. Down the road.

Actually, no you can't.

The processors are soldered on.

I could probably end up selling it for a pretty good amount later on though, right? And only lose a few hundred dollars?

Yeah, probably, but I'd be worried about the current problems hampering the resale value.
