I ordered it last night (Friday night in Singapore, which is Friday morning in the US.) My internet connection was extremely unstable, so I ordered it over the phone from Steve, after I had spoken with Brian a few minutes previous and had some questions answered. I'll be back in the US by the time it's ready, so I'm currently having it shipped to my home in Minnesota. I travel for a living (ten months of the year in hotels), so I might have to have it shipped to a hotel down the way once they've got it built. I'll keep you all updated.

Thanks again.

Very very nice!

So I take it I should call Hypersonic and upgrade my 256 7900gtx card to the 512? That option wasn't available on my CX7 order last week... I know most games right now it won't make a diff but I've learned my lesson about future-proofing when I can.

Nice rig and congrats. The CX7's are continually getting better and better.

Looking forward to your review and posts - as there is enough difference between yours and mind to make the difference in a review. Especially wondering how sound is.

Thanks.

Thanks for the welcome. I'm a sound engineer by profession, so I'll be sure to let you know how it is on my new computer.

One thing I am concerned with on my CX7 that is currently being built is the sound situation, as I also will be doing video and audio on it. So what's the scoop eh =) ?

I'm still waiting for this computer. It's finally moved to the "scrutiny" phase. I've sent them several emails reminding them to contact me before shipping, because I live in a different hotel each week. A woman from Hypersonic called me last week in response to one of the emails. Depending on how you count the July 4th holiday, I'm right around the 17 days originally guessed, counting only business days, so I'm still being pretty patient. I just hope that they don't screw up and ship the order to my house...

I think the key for the CX7 is external speakers and/or the Audigy card. The sounds on the CX7 is good (I know a lot of jaws dropped on that one - especially with my comments), but I think my issues are centered around the speakers. There are only the two and they are to the back of the system facing up - not towards the user. If I was sitting over the notebook, maybe I would have a better perspective, but I don't.

That being said - I am first going to look for external speakers and play with those. Then - if I am not satisfied, I will go with the Audigy card.

Nice thing is - I got my system back so I am happily gaming again.

I've been messing around with my new CX7 for a few days and sure enough the sound is pretty bad. Granted it's a Realtek card with laptop speakers but even with headphones it's very muddy. So yeah I'll prolly have to go with that audigy + some external speakers...

Other than that this laptop is incredible...

Well, despite several emails and telephone conversations asking that they contact me before shipping, Hypersonic shipped my PC to my house. Since I live on the road, I will now either have to have my family re-ship it to my hotel, or if I'm lucky, Hypersonic will be able to reroute it via UPS. I sent an email and hopefully I'll have some luck.

Thanks.

Doh, the Audigy 2 ZS is pcmcia, it won't fit in the Express slot of the CX7, I think I'll end up going with the M Audio Sonica Theatre usb soundcard, it fits in the palm of your hand and has no external power source so it's great for being portable. Either that or the Audigy NX which is also usb but very hard to find as it is discontinued.

Are you already using the PCMCIA slot on your system?

It seems the Core Duo version of the CX7 only comes with an Express Card slot, no PC Card slot. In my opinion, at this point in time, companies should either include both or just the PC Card slot. However, I guess Clevo obviously did not want to redesign the chassis and simply replaced the PC Card slot with the Express Card slot on this particular model.

What was your total time from order to arrival? My AX9 is at 28 days and I've been in "Grooming" for the last 5 or 6! It's killing me. Email last Friday requesting update and nothing back yet. I did NOT order custom paint, besides, what's left after grooming, but shipping?

Hypersonic tried to reroute my computer via UPS, but didn't send the request to UPS until it was too late, and the computer was delivered to my house. I had my mother send it to me via FedEx at a cost of $150. It seems to me that this is a cost which Hypersonic should cover, but we'll see what they say about it.
