I've been getting the blue screen of death after installing this utility. It definetely has something to do with the Creative drivers. I guess I'll stick with Creative for the time being. I use headphones 90% of the time anyways, and this doesn't seem to have impressed a lot of people with it.

Yeah, I would imagine that this utility really shines only when using the onboard speakers since they are def inferior to a good, high-quality set of headphones.....

I also have the blue screen, and I don't have the creative drivers installed. I'm using an Inspiron 9300, Windows XP MCE. Maybe it's because of bluetooth drivers? It happens after I login to my user account. I have to restart into safe mode to uninstall until my Windows works again.

I used to get the blue screen. I eventually fixed it by removing all entries associated with Creative in registry.

After testing it out with some multi-channel .wmv files I see what you mean, the TruSurround does sound much better. For 2-channel audio i was able to get WowHD a little more to my liking, but it's not worth using after seeing what how much better TruSurround was for multi-channel. Thanks

lol. So which one do you use? Which one should I use? TruSurround or WOWHD? All I do is game, so surround sound would be nice.

**EDIT**
BTW, what about the detailed settings? Anyone get a chance to tinker around with them?

I've been having problems with this app recently. Windows generated sounds, eg. pressing backspace in a textbox with no text to get that 'bing' sound, or clicking links in IE/FF causes the sound quality of music being played to drop significantly. Often sounds like audio is switching to mono, or a much more hollow/distorted sound. Any one having similar issues? I've got an M1710 with standard Sigmatel drivers installed, no creative software installed.
I like the sound the toshiba utility provides over whats produced normally, however removing the creative software drops the sound level a lot, but the SRS utility drops in and out of crap quality audio!

yea but the settings i have it at seem to have nullified that, i spent along itme testing it, the subwoofer on the 9300 can go as low as 100hz the thing is its normally set at default and without the srs utility which is why it gets as staticy as it does, 100 produces the cleaner bass, but depending on the beat thats playing it can aslo come across as quieter, 150 is what seems to be its sweet spot, here are my settings and my 3 friends with with i9300's all set them the same way here they are for all to test

the high frequencies could be tuned higher ive reached the 40's before static

I'm the OP for this thread and I must admit I don't really use the utility much anymore, i only load it as needed. I just found too many clear examples of situations where it would cause massive distortion, even with conservative settings. I can link a few sample songs if your interested.

The only way I've been able to make it distortion free is by setting SRS, Focus & Definition to 0 and only using 'WOW HD'. The only thing i use is the bass enhancement around 50% or so and vary the "speaker size" depending on what i'm listening to.

I can give you example that cause it to sound like crap with any other setting. Too bad, it was a fun utility initially.......

so far i been useing it and haveint found any distortion with every game or music i own.

more bass clearer sounds and louder

this utility definately rocks! especially when using it with external speakers. I recently bough logitech x230 (33$ @ newegg) and i can hear more bass, clear vocals, good highs and lows.
