We have a new Aspire 3610 which often locks up (gets stuck in a loop with the disk light flashing). Sometimes it does a disk check on booting Windows. Checking with Norton Disk Doctor surface check on booting into DOS shows many bad sectors on the c: partition (d: partition OK). NDD cannot repair the disk (it crashes).
Normally I would reformat the disk and reinstall everything. But the disk is split into 2 visible and one hidden partition. Would the recover disk work in this situation (would it reformat). Should I reformat and then use the recover disc? I want to recover the machine if possible rather than sending it back. Thanks for any advice.
