Display looks best off axis?

Has anybody else noticed that their Area 51m2 (16" version) display actually looks best when viewed off-axis? I've been playing with powerstrip for weeks now trying to get the contrast right w/out washing out all of the colors. What I finally noticed is that the best results come from leaving everything default and then opening screen about 30 degrees too wide, so you're sort of looking up at it. Weird. It's as if a filter layer isn't properly applied to the screen.

I'm dead on and it looks great.

My Powerstrip settings are as follows:

Gamma 0.71
Brightness 30%
Contrast -120%
Temperature 6000k

Give that a whirl...

Thanks Craig, those settings are indeed pretty good, but not nearly as good (on my machine) as the defaults with the screen tilted back a ways. Try it for yourself and see if the colors don't get considerably more vivid. (This message board happens to be a good example, conveniently.)

Where is your screen set at though? The chassis itself has its own brightness controls. Hit the Fn button and f7/f8. Mine is two clicks off of highest setting with those Powerstrip configs and it looks great.

I think mine is all the ways up...tho when u do the Fn thing, theres no visual indicator or screen text that shows where u are in the scale.
