I will be depending on what I get told today.

i would of taken it to the store, and told them i want a complete new box, or they can process my return.

I bought it off the Apple over the phone service - not a store.

Apple will be picking this laptop up and sending me another one in about 1.5 weeks. I'm extremely pissed off, as I leave to overseas in just over 2 weeks and was hoping to be able to familiarise myself before I left.

you cant do a store exchange? i would think you could as its the same company.

also about them mailing you a new one, get them to overnight it free. tell them if they want your business you want your laptop.

Nope, in fact the store is ****ing useless. They don't offer student discount and have an 8 week wait, hence I went direct.

I will be doing something like that, if not I'll buy something else.

what store r u referring to? if it's an apple retail store they will honor academic discounts. it's when u try the 3rd party (compusa, etc.) route that u end up in a quandary.

In Australia we have Apple resellers who have told me they won't.
Because they're Apple "resellers" not Apple Stores.
