Audigy 2 PCMCIA the best sound out?

Basically I am giving my wife my desktop and will be using my M170 as my main system instead of using both desktop/laptop.

So far I have added:
Logitech G15 keyboard and G5 mouse
Matrox DualHead2Go with 2 19" Samsung LCDs (matrox ordered get it today)

So the last thing I need is a good solution for sound to my speakers. I was wondering if the PCMCIA card by creative is the best solution or if there is something better out there? I need both good stereo as well as 5.1 as I use this system for game development and therefore need to test both.

Thanks for any opinions!

I'm pretty sure that may be the best solution for you. I have one for my 9100 and I must say it's great. Nice sound and basic recording functionlity. All other PCMCIA sound cards I know of are geared more towards audio recording for music production.

I don't know if this suits your game development needs, but could you not use teh S/PDIF output with a compitible surround sound system? Seems to me like it would be the cheaper option (unless you already own the surround sound system and it doesn't have a digitial input...)

That was my first thought but the problem is that we are adding EAX support into our audio engine so I need a Creative card for that.

S/PDIF won't give you 5.1 in games... you'd need Dolby Digital Live for that, and the Audigy 2 ZS does not have that (and certainly not the on-board card)
