is the cpu upgradeable too? - Page 2

The manual does not say to avoid peeing on electric fences. Does that mean you can or should engage in such activities?

Yhea thats why i only wnet with teh 2.8gzh so i can upgrade later its just aregular desktop prosessor so you should be able to upgrade it.

i dont think i've ever had a lappy where i needed to upgrade the cup..it was always the video card that i needed to upgrade...god bless alienware

well from waht i herd, its like this
first of all, in 1 or 2months from now area51m gona be amd64 (desktop porses as well) secend thay gona do 2new ced cards in the next 10months dont know what chpest well that be, sens ther is no 9800mobility yet, and also i asuem that it well be as strong as teh desktop 9700, sens the corect 9700mobility=9600xt desktop...
so u can forget abote taht prosepct cpu of intel, also u do know that hi makes like 2 times more heat then the normal P4 so tahts is main reson y hi cent go laptop, also hi is not that mach of big puse on prefomens only on prise...
any way thats what i herd when i tallked waite an aw help and sepurt guy, also what he menchen is that the bigest cahnges going 2 be on desktop systeams, in the next few months, btw its the same guy that told me on the day befor that the 9700going 2 get out, and u ppl flame my ass off then the day after i,lol, posted if i recall "****ing told u busters, the 9700now avilebel" yeah sure i wasnt the first 2 post sach athin, but thats what i done :-P

well thats all i know, and sens this guy realy told me waht going 2 be and it was proved right, i guss thats it is all right this time 2, btw, unlike the SALES PPL hi is TECH AND SEPURT MAN, so just so u know SALES ppl are SALES ppl and ther intres is 2 get YOU MONEY, so sens hi is not, hi dont have 2 say what i like 2 hear, i presonaly wold like 2 her, that thay gona give 10% off the systeams if u get 3y warnty or any thin like that, but hi didnt sens hi dont mind abote my money, so just so u know most ppl that tallk waite alienware tallk waite selas and thats y thay say, "tomorol 9700" then even aweak li8er no 9700 well be out..so keep in mind that if u DO tallk 2 them, try get atech sepurt guy...

Is that english? Couldnt resist. Anyways, anandtech spilled the beans already, and the next gpu for notebooks by ATI appears to be the x600 or is it 600x...I dont remember, but anyways, head on over there to read up on it.

Yes. It really is upgradeable. It uses a standard desktop P4, however, 3.4GHz is the end of the line for socket 478, so that is the fastest cpu that will physically fit.

Technically the 3.4 extreme is the end of the line for northwoods...
But you're sure no more prescotts are socket 478? I could have sworn I heard they were going to switch around 4Ghz...

the presott core wi continue in the LGA775 package. The Intel roadmap says 3.4 is the end of socket478, but it is kinda dated, so I'm not positive...roadmap

are you sure there is not going to be an Aurora-m?

I know reading a press release from them a while back that they alluded to a system called the "Aurora-m" and i find it difficult to believe that they would scrap the whole P4 product line as far as mobile is concerned...not to mention that Area 51:Intel::Aurora:AMD...

Please correct me if i am wrong, I indeed may have misread your post.
