I'm not able to finalize between these two. The following are their respective configurations (along with my predicaments
:
XPS M1210:
IntelĀ® CoreTM Duo Processor T2300 (2MB Cache, 1.66 GHz, 667MHz FSB)
12.1" Wide Screen XGA display with TrueLife(TM) (1280x800 res.)
1024MB (2 X 512MB) DDR2 SDRAM
80GB SATA Hard Drive
Internal 8X DVD+/-RW Combination Drive with dual layer write capabilities
256MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(TM) Go 7400 TurboCache
1-year XPS Premier Service with 1-year CompleteCover
costs me ~ $1462 (Rs 65834 in INR)
Inspiron 1505 (Inspiron(TM) 6400)
Intel(R) Core(TM) Duo Processor T2300 1.66
1 Year Next Business Day (8x5) Onsite Response (Parts + Labour)
15.4" UltraSharp(TM) Wide Screen SXGA+ TFT Display with Truelife(TM): 1680x1050
1024MB (2 X 512MB) DDR2 SDRAM 533MHz
60GB SATA Hard Drive
Internal 8X DVD+/-RW Combination Drive with dual layer write capabilities
256MB ATI Mobility(TM) Radeon(R) X1400 Hypermemory
Dell(TM) Large Backpack
costs me ~ $1423 (Rs 65047 in INR)
-----------------
Obviously, not much to choose in terms of money, i'm basically concerned about these things:
* how small is 12.1" WXGA? does 1280x800 res on 12.1" looks sweet enough?
(i dont know why but i want to go for a screen (hence a notebook) with a higher resolution, and hence little bit prejudiced towards Inspiron 6400.) and what about games, would they look good on 12.1" screen? i'm an engg student and will have a lot of stuff dealing with programming/different linux distros/lotsa movies/games and almost everything.
*1.66 and 1gb ram or 1.83 and 512 mb ram? would i be able to go about my normal routine with wither of these two? provided the ATI graphics card.
*should i go for 1.83 and 512 mb, as i can upgrade after an year or so? upgrading to a better processor can be costly. what do you guys recommend?
*what about color kits? carbon fibre kit sounds good. can any one explain what they're about?
it's a hell lot dicey. i want to order within a day or two, as soon i'm finished with answering the above questions. should i sacrifice the 1680x1020 res screen for 1.83 and 1gb ram? please help!
