Does any one have a review of this notebook. If you even own this notebook would you tell someone else to buy it. I have heard some problems with the fan. But it seems like some have it and some dont. I was looking at the dv8000t until i saw this. Better graphics card and this was 300 bucks less(its the 1400 buck one, i had configured the dv8000t to 1700) and its got a 3 year warranty on it. Thankyou for any and all comments and/or reviews.

Make sure that the screen is not dim...I think I read that somewhere I might be buying this one also, if the price of the next one up ever falls below 1590 (I've seen it for as low as 1640.....) IMO all of the HP home laptops are a joke because of the vid cards....and it appears that some of the business series with real video capabilities have dim screens. You'd be surprised how hard it is to find a decent 15.4" notebook with an x1600 or equilivant.....the macbook is pricey and has heat issues, the S96J is hideous and doesn't really give an impression of solidness, the better looking Z96J is not really avaliable and still does not live up to asus' design potential, the HEL80 looks OK even with the 7600, but again it is ugly and probably not that solid. The IBM Z60 is a complete joke video wise and they decided to can it. The Qosmio F30 looks just about right on the spot but it isn't sold here. The Acer 8200 has a poor screen and is holding it's value, so it's pricey. The Acer Ferrari 4k has poor battery life and is outdated with the x700. The Acer Ferrari 5k isn't out yet and might still have poor batt life - and it will be really expensive. The new Alienware's might be OK....out of my price range but it looks like it could be nice....who knows what influence dell had on it. I was about ready to jump on the sony 15.4 with the 7600....then I find out that it is the 128mb version and gets horrible battery life. Every choice is a compromise in the mobile market....and if you are a gamer wanting a 15.4 this is especially true since there is so much trash with intel GMA and the like floating around. Personally I'm going to wait as long as possible to save money...I wish I could wait till merom comes out so that I could buy the cleared inventory at savings then upgrade.

Dim screen

How dim is it. I have seen pictures of it at night and it looked ok to me.

Also under what conditions does it look dim. Night? Day?

Hey Tommi do you think the screen on the nc8430 is the same as the one on your system? It would be a logical conclusion being they have the same resolution and both are 15.4" sold by HP business. I read your review and I hope they are the same because I just ordered an nc8430 today (with 100 dollar mail in rebate that put it right in range). I think the dim comments might be coming from those who may not have completely disabled the light sensor and upped the brightness.

I would think it is the same, since the chassis and the model line so close to mine. But you never know.
