Weird problem where random red and blue pixels appear on screen

I have a 9750 with a nVidia Geforce Go 7800 GTX and I'm having a problem where I am getting a corrupted display where dots appear in seemingly random positions in a window and then when the window moved, they form thin strands. The dots also seem to flicker slightly and/or vanish and then return. I seem to get red dots on black backgrounds (such as a command prompt) and blue/cyan dots appearing on white (such as a browser window).

I'm running at 1920x1200 and the problem only seems to occur at high resolutions such as this as I don't see it on the text screens such as the bootup screen.

I had the original nVidia drivers that were installed on the laptop when I received and upgraded to 91.31 to see if it was a driver issue but I still have the same problem with the new driver.

Does anyone know what could be the cause of this problem? Could it be a bad video card or video memory? The laptop is only a few weeks old and the problem has only started in the last day or so.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It could be artifacting due to either a problem with the 7800 or due to overclocking.

It's definitely not due to overclocking as I haven't altered the clock speed of the video card or the computer.

It would be a pain if it's a problem with the video card.

Might also want to take a real close look at the screen to make sure that the glossy coating isn't flawed or something, you know like how a drop of water can magnify pixels.

Nah, the screen coating looks OK.

I emailed Sager and nVidia about this problem a few days ago and haven't had any replies yet. Do they normally take a while to respond?

Sager can take a whole day to respond. Never emailed Nvidia.

Hi there, have tried to monitor the temps of your GPU? there is a utility called GetThermal , search the forum for it. my temps are like this after putting arctic silver 5 on my GPU : idle 62 playing games 77 or st like that.

So if you have any high temps contact sager w\o telling them about the getthermal thing because it will void you warrantly, and tell them about the problem. bye
