Is it too late to get the CompleteCare? I also heard that there's 10-15% off if you buy as a small business. There's apparently a deal too, that if you get the 3 year on-site support, you'll get CompleteCare too. I think I might try calling them.... Maybe email would be safer... The phone menus are ridiculous. But yeah, CompleteCare sounds like a good deal, especially if it's free (relatively)...

I like Warcraft 3 a lot, but unlike you hardcore gamers, I probably spend more time clicking at the little people to hear what they say and blowing up the sheep. I like Neverwinter Nights too.

Dell has been "boxing" my 8600 for two days now! When will they ship??

Hehe.

I looked at a bunch of backpacks, but finally decided on this one in Graphite:

Looks nice, isn't too big, pretty good price.

But when is my laptop going to get here? Dang it, Dell. Ship it already!

Also, I called Dell and asked for an upgrade for the warranty. They said it will cost $174 more to go from 3 year mail-in to 3 year on-site with CompleteCare, so I will do that as soon as they ship it.

I feel like it's going to be Christmas or something.

I am hoping to order an 8600 in the next few weeks, with the SXGA screen, I am wondering what the battery life is like while watching a DVD. I have heard that batteries drop quickly while using the DVD drive. Thanks for your help!

Is there some other reason to own a laptop besides playing RTS & RPG's from the comfort of your couch??

I am an IT contractor, and bring my own computer to work every day. Contractors get last choice of computers at my client's site, which means Pentium II's or III's!

well, i now i can never have another laptop with less than 1900x1200.
im actually saying stupid me, because i bought an xga centrino laptop a few months ago. i managed to sell that one.

when i get my screen right, dell have made no problems with it just the way it will be done is a bit confuseing.

just having 2 word windows side by side is great. or researching the net, while having word.

+ movies and games when work is over.

+ i have bad eyesight and have no problems with wuxga.

i will never own another laptop that isnt widescreen and 1900x1200

Bache, you said it all. I'm completely hooked on this 1920x1200 widescreen and can't look at anything else. Every other notebook screen looks cramped and awkward to me, now. I just eBayed my LCD desktop monitor 'cuz it's 1280x1024 resolution is useless to me after a month with my 8600. I'm cursed, but I love it!!!

Haha. Well, that's ok. I have a thing for geeks.

I'm not sure if you're asking me, but from what I've heard, the 8600 lasts from 3-4 hours while playing DVDs, and that is really good battery life. I bought my laptop for games, school, wireless internet, and storing/sending digital pics when I travel. Also, I've just always liked the idea of laptops. Desktops seem a bit bulky and superfluous since I can get the same from a laptop without all the hassle of moving it around.

Oh... And I should be getting my "baby" today. The UPS guy tried to deliver it yesterday, but the gates in my neighborhood were closed. Grrrrr! Can't wait to reinstall everything and get it just the way I like it.
