WINDOWS Media Edition = Windows Xp Home + Extra?

Hi all

I just wanted to make sure before I bought the Dell Inspiron 6400 that although it says it uses Windows XP Media Edition, this means I would be able to do the exact same things as I would if I just had Windows XP Home? So for example when I boot up the computer does it go into the normal windows desktop etc or does it go into a weird menu which uses a remote? Is this correct? Does it still run everything just was well?

Thanks in advance
Chris

It's almost exactly the same as XP pro, except you have the media centre option.

It boots into normal XP, but when you press the media centre button it loads the Meida Centre overlay, which just makes it easier to acces media from the couch or whatever. You dont even need to look at it if dont want to.

something makes me wanna feel bad for you buying XP now since Vista is only a year away.....but suit yourself.

knowing Dell they give you configuration options, just pick Home from the options list to save yourself about $100 that you can spend on a ram upgrade or perhaps a bigger hard drive

I think it has minor cosmetic changes... The main toolbar at the bottom is bulging out instead of in or something. Also I don't think you get the XP bootup screen where you select the user and type the password. Its the thing where a box pops up and you type the user and password. My freinds is like that anyway.

That's just another theme. You can choose very much different themes.

Sure you can get. You only have to choose the type of the logonscreen.
