I feel your pain TwiVamp.

I got hit with two neg reps last week, they left no sig and both posts were totally innocent. It's as if someone is going around randomly giving neg reps without good reason. I sent querries to both Luke and Adam (since the moderators don't seem to be active) without response. Can't figure out what's going on <shrug>.

??? I was told by Sager today that if you have a 9880 or 60 the upgrade to nVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 7900 GTX w/512MB
will be $899.00 because of needing a motherboard and power supply in the kit, they will only give you $35.00 for the Ultra video card and nothing for your excellent condition motherboard! I guess it can be sold on the forums or ebay, what do you think?

Breaking down the costs it doesn't seem so outrageous. I think it goes something like this:

$575: nVidia 7900 GTX 512 (about the going rate for a top of the line mobile GPU; in this case, *the* top of the line mobile GPU)

$100: New power brick (I know I know, If you've already got a 220w brick with your 9880, why do you need a new one? That's another rant entirely.)

$150: New mobo (not bad I suppose for a 915-based mobil mobo, plus you get a shiny new 1 yr warranty on it)

$75 Labor and shipping (doesn't seem too bad <shrug>)

As far as keeping parts that you could sell on eBay, well I could be wrong but I don't think the market for used Clevo mobos is all that hot. I'd just as soon Sager keep them, give me a few bucks, and save me the eBay hassle. Same for the GPU since it can only be used in Clevos.

But that's just my opinion and others often disagree with me (note my rep).

I have a 9860. I had my motherboard fry like many others. Now im wondering if the one they replaced it with is capable of using the 7900gtx. Ill have to crack her open and take a peek i suppose. Crosses fingers.

All you have to open is the RAM compartment. It should have a handwritten label on with Revision the MoBo is.
