ATI X1400 not working properly?

hey, just got my first laptop today, and the graphics are being really wierd. When im playing games, or watching a DVD, the picture doesnt look right. The colors are blue in the parts where its supposed to be black, or shadows.

any ideas?

I can get pics if you need them.

On second though, its like theres too much "gamma correction" but i dont know if i should mess with the settings.

Its wierd, when i turn my computer on, everything is fine. But as soon as a turn on my game, or plug in a movie, it goes blue like that.

ok, so i put the DVD back in and now everything is working perfectly and working great.. but i know its only a matter of time before things screw up again

Im not doing anything wrong am i?

Edit:: after watching the movie for about 7-8 minutes, the blue came back. Arg

somebodies gotta know whats going on. Basicly, the colors are messed up. How do i fix it?

Catalyst controll center wont open.

Do you have all the correct drivers?

Get rid of ATI's drivers.

Use Driver Cleaner, to fully uninstall them.

Then install the Latest ATI Omega Drivers, and use ATI Tray Tools which is included to adjust certain settings while you watch the movie.


And if you dont want to worry about messing anything up, create a system restore point before cleaning and installing the new drivers.

u couldve just taken a screenshot with prinstsceen sysrq wouldve been a lot faster and detailed, and yea, uninstall the stock drivers and install the newest ones

i called dell tec. and they did some trouble shooting. They say that the LCD screen is broken. which makes sence because somtimes it works perfectly, then it goes loopy, then good again....ect.

So, im sending it in for a new one

i think thats kinda cool, i mean its anoying but in a sence its pretty cool.
I wish they had a program that can do that.
