Upgrading T60 to Merom

Thread Starter
Are Thinkpad T60 processors soldered to the motherboard? Will it be possible to switch out my Core Duo/Yonah processor for a new Core Duo 2/Merom processor this fall?

They are not. You can upgrade; at least phisically. You may need a new BIOS.

Sorry for the n00bish question, but can you upgrade your BIOS just by downloading it, or you you have to buy some new chip and solder it to the mobo. Thanks.

Just DL and install. You MUST have a fully charged battery AND the AC adapter installed at the time of the upgrade.

Who will relase the BIOs or will they even be released? I need a T60 asap, but I really would like Merom.
