Thread Starter
ever since i got my notebook 2 years ago, it could never run games properly, even 2d games. this notebook has a ATI 9600 turbo pro in it. when i boot up my favorite game Warcraft 3 it plays smooth as butter (as it should), but after about 10 minutes (less on a hot summer day), i start getting 1 frame per second. i ve had this problem since the day i bought this piece of #@(% and it is still here. whats the point of having such a gpu if it doesnt work?

well my best guess is that this is how this notebook deals with heat it down clocks either the cpu or the gpu (not sure). the problem may also be that i only have 1 dimm of ram instead of 2 (512 mb) therefore slowing the ram access time for the gpu (doubt it tho cuz the slow down happens in the middle of a game not @ the start and occurs for long periods of time). i ve tried everything, including sticking a 12 inch fan a foot away from it blowing @ high power, but it still happens!!! (though it may reduce the occurences not sure).

so has nebody ever had this problem with ne notebook? or even the d400v and know how to fix it? cuz this is how every game of warcraft goes for me right now:

(i am winning in a game then...)

ME:I CANNT MICRO I AM GeTTING 1 fps

enemy: sure...

ME: FVCKING LAGG!!! JESUS FVCKING CHR!ST

enemy: LOLD YOU ARE A NOOB, /cry more f@g

ME: BAHH I AM GOING TO KILL SOMETHING

enemy: u newb

(i loose my expansion and half my army then i quit b4 i explode)

Hmmm, that doesn't sound healthy at all....

Could I suggest a reformat and a reinstallation of windows, followed up by the latest mobility drivers supplied by ATI?

Hey! I had the same problem!

Yea i know what u mean about the ingame noob calling....

It happened on my Alienware Area-51 5500 Desktop...

It stayed that way for about 4 months

Eventually it just didnt happen again, I noticed that when i put the video settings down to really really crappy level, that the "lag spikes" occure less often and werent as bad (i got about half an fps on high settings and 14 on low settings when the spikes happened).

My card is getting old I think: Nvidia 6800 PCI-E 256mb

Luckily I am investing in a laptop with the 7900 GTX, I did so because of this problem. I think its a video card that is getting jossled. These lag spikes stopped when I moved my desktop to another area of my house, maybe it popped in place...

Hope this was of some help, and goodluck, trust me there is a way to fix it
