So I just got a Lenovo Yoga 13. This is my review.
As what I primarily do is writing and programming, having a good keyboard is critical for me, which is why a tablet alone can’t work for me, and...
I have owned dozens of laptops in a variety of brands, and had many different laptops provided for my use at work. Without question, this is the finest I have owned. The Alienware M17x R2 is a...
Lenovo Thinkpad W530 Review

One of the longest and most enduring brands in computers is Thinkpad. Originally developed by IBM in the USA, Thinkpad notebook computers are now...
Go to the Dell sight and log in look for your service tag and then the Original Configuration that will have the screen number. I think U is sharp, not sure on the others. Do a google search after you get the screen number, should find something obout it. Or search the Dell forums.
But I have already tried this. Cannot find anything on the forums or figure out from my Invoice which screen I have. It looks as though I have the Bleed issue on the lower and upper half of my screen, so I was wondering what brand my screen is.
I couldnt find mine either, I found out the second screen that I put on myself was a samsung, a REFURBISHED samsung, the illumination wasnt bad at the bottom but it had 3 dead pixels and some gooey crap up in the corner.
These numbers are not the screens part number. It should have a part number like this U0674 (think this is a Sharp ???) Then do a search. Have you found the original configuration page???
I had both the Sharp and Samsung and they both had it. My second 8600 has the same prob but it is not as bad as the other one. Only time I see it is during boot and DVD playback the room also has to be very dark. I don't know if this is an manf prob or somthing Dell is doing to the screen when the place it in the shell.
I would like to solve the prob but I am not going down the refurb path again. Some people say they don't have it and others do. Its up to you, if it bugs you send it back or try for a replacement. I have the 3 year warr so I am waiting.
Other than that little prob I think this is a great laptop.
OK, so it is a SHARP wuxga screen that seems to have the top and bottom leakage issue.
Is this the one that is known to have these issues, or should I just keep it?
If I was you I would request a new screen, and make sure you specify NEW, if the new one has the same problem send back the entire laptop, I did and I think its justified. Dell really needs to learn they cant put sub par screens in these laptops and if people start sending them back because of it Dell might wisen up.
I think my third one was new, im not sure, the tech said it was but then he also said if Dell has them in stock for over 15 days they call them refurbs, that dosent make sense to me. It had the plastic still on the back but I left mine on so someone else could have, or else they could have put it on, who knows
Now I dunno what to do. If its gonna be the same thing with a replacement, then why bother returning. Frick Frick Frickety Frick
I just want a working screen, cuz otherwise this is the laptop of my dreams here. Just wish I knew if the problem can be solved or if this is somethign I will have to live with.
My second screen had the plastic on the back and over the screen itself. I have had two new 8600 and they did not have the plastic on the screen! You very well could get a new screen, some have. I just did not!
Don't let me scare you, If you think its a prob then get a aother LCD. If that one is bad then get another machine or go look for another laptop.
I was almost going to send my 8600 back but I really am not sure if this is that big of a prob for me, I cant get another machine with the same specs for the price I paid.
I have been checking around and this seems to be a prob in the US and in the UK. I would like to find out why the screens are having this prob. I have been told by several people that this is normal with LCD but this is the first time I have seen it.
I agree with you fly, and thats what I did, I had a problem with 3 screens and just sent back my 8600, and I think others should do the same. Hopefully in the future Dell can fix this and then I will buy another 8600 cus its a great machine. If I had paid maybe $1000 less than I did I probably wouldnt care as much about the screen.
