Hi,

Hi,

I just finished installing Vista on my Desktop, and there is a error, My Display is only showing 640X480 and 4bit coulours. I tryed updating the drivers but it did not work, I have a Intel Pentium 4 2.49GHz, and it also has a Intel 82845G Graphics Card. I guess the problem is the Graphics Card, but on Windows Vista Website it says I can use It with the same Graphics requirements as Windows XP. also, Would it work on my laptop better than It did on my desktop? (see sig)

Here is what it looks like:

Thanks for the help!
Thanks!

So...? Who ever said that Vista will not work on an Intel integrated? Any graphics card, integrated or not, will be able to run a 2D image aka ur desktop. Now if u want the full Aero 3D crap that Vista has, then u prolly wont be able to use it on ur laptop. But the 2D desktop should work fine on even an 8 year old card.

yes, but the desktop did not work,

I think it is because I do not have the correct drivers, because I tryed installing the Intel Graphics Drivers, and said "the operationg system is not supported".

You think that I put Vista on my Laptop it will be better than the picture in the first post? How do I get the correct drivers?

Thanks everyone for replying!
Thanks!

It probably doesnt have the correct drivers. Or the vista ones dont work. Try it on your laptop, it appears newer so therfore should work.

Vista should have generic drivers for most cases.

so Microsoft did not bother to put the Intel Graphics drivers then?

Ill ask once again, to make sure, It will be better than the picture in the first picture?

yeah, What I did with my desktop is that I chose the option to upgrade from Windows XP, and keep my files, now I have to reinstall WinXP with no backup, so this time, when I want to install Vista on my Laptop, I want a seperate partition, and I cant use and CD's or DVD's or Floppys to create partitions. Any ideas?

Thanks!

grab any linux livecd you might have around the house, if you have none, grab one that for your convinience features qtparted or gparted (not required, but easier for you... draxx tools like on pclinuxos is also ok) resize whatever you wanna resize, create, format, reboot...have fun.

or just grab partition magic and no need for linux...whatever rocks your boat man.

hello?
if you delete anything yeah, if you just resize your current ones to create a free space, there is always a risk, but i've done it on several occasions where i haven't lost anything.

also: ALWAYS BACK UP!
