I owned a Voodoo 860 for a time.

The machine worked well. It was smooth, stable and fast. However, it was based on the Arima 730, and like all the machines like it, suffered from the cracked hinge syndrome - twice.

Sorry, never bothered taking pictures.

Order process is easy, friendly, chaotic (in my case because I kept changing my mind about models, cpus etc, etc) and very expensive! Voodoo sales very tactfully and competently handled all my waffling.

Given the opportunity to do again, I would not order a notebook from Voodoo or any other boutique dealer. Painted machines are a pain; every nick, scratch and ding brings great sorrow.

Voodoo's service is excellent for the most part, but the company does have issues with keeping customers informed and updated via email. If you decide on a Voodoo machine, my advice is to make all contacts with Voodoo by phone. Voodoo's customer service is great when you actually speak to warm, live bodies.

voodoo is big time expensive

Buy a computer from a trusted reseller like powernotebooks.com and send it to www.smooth-creations.com for a paintjob.

You'll save $2K +

Voodoo notebooks are great if you have extra limbs to sell.

LOL I need a new laptop (desktop im waiting for all the new stuff, vista, conroe, Dx10...thats more like next year type stuff) and my 600m is getting old quick. I'm looking for something ideally around 1200-1500, but the voodoo's are so tempting being that very few people actually own them. The problem is the price is so insane!!! I love the one for 3100 loaded...the middleweight with an X1600 etc....but its 3100 painted, tattoos, allure mouse, all the stuff you'd HAVE to get if you're going Voodoo.

AW Sentia 3450 is sweet, as is the XPS M1210.

I also am reasearching Apple Macbooks, I've read tons about ABS PC, and even scanned Falcon. I may break away from the Dell mold, but it's so HARD when they start dropping coupon codes.

we shall see!!!

If that's it, you can spray your own name/tatoo model made out of wood... talk about unique.

Voodoo uses various ODM's. Mine was an Arima. Compal has been used, too, and I'm sure there are others, though I don't keep track of the notebook models anymore.
Voodoo has used Clevos for their heavy weights, and everything else is a mix of Arima, Compal, MSI, and Asus models. I know theres a few more smaller ODM's in there, but I cant remember them.

nobody has one becuase they are wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to expensive for the average to mid class consumer, they are only for rich people or retarded college students that use their parents house as collateral, or for very rich spoiled kids

well it took 15 replies but here is we go again, the old "if you own a voodoo you're a rich spoiled bastard" discussion...

*sigh*

LOL oh relax....they are very high priced for the specs, but I have a feeling they are sweet laptops. Reviews and customer ratings are very very high, which tells you that in this case, you may actually get what you pay for. It seems they do offer a sense of real pride and personal service when you order one, and it's tempting to go for it just once!

yes they are sweet, and the features are great, but to own one you pretty much have to be very rich, or a person that buys one and runs to mexico to hide from the bill collectors, or if you dont feel you could be one of thos, you could just save up, pay a down payment and pay it off month by month

Dude the laptop Im looking at is the middleweight for 3000-3300 bucks....where does that result in being rich or having money collected?? I can see your point if you talk about 13,000 dollar desktops, but 3 grand isnt much for a performance custom laptop?

The Falcon Fragbook TL is around 3 grand also
